  • Nothing New Here - stick with free myDlink Lite app

    By hlyl0611 (Pcmac user)

I bought a the app 5030L camera and was using the myDlink Lite app that is "bundled" with it. It worked fine but I found that it would NOT playback the videos stored in the SD card. After Googling, I found that is a very common problem---found postings dated 2013 so I am sure they aren't doing anything to fix it. So I searched for another app that might have remedied this issue. I purchased this app because I read that it was compatible with the 5030L and that it could be used for LOCAL and REMOTE viewing and playing back of the recorded videos. So first of all...the setup wizard only walks you through LOCAL linking of the app to the camera. If you want to view REMOTELY you have to send them your email address and then they will send you the instructions to linking your app to the camera for that scenario--so the wizard instructions claim. The wizard DOES prompt you for your email. I never got the instructions though! Secondly, even when connected LOCALLY, there was no option to view videos stored on the SD card. This was a total waste of money---luckily it was only $2!
  • Connects but not much else

    By MusicMac (Pcmac user)

UPDATE: Downgraded from two stars to one. Directional controls are all messed up, especially if you have to invert image of your camera hangs from ceiling. None of the moments are adjusted for this. Time stamp info is all reversed and screwed up with no ability to fix. App is extremely slow & jerky to control camera. I found I had to sometimes quit app to get correct image and camera position to show. SUMMARY: if you absolutely need some “kind” of image - this might work for a stand alone camera for a QUICK look. Expensive for how poorly it functions. Keep looking for something better! PREVIOUS REVIEW: Connects and controls but no audio ability. Slow & no control over image quality settings. I’ll be getting my money back.
  • Works flawlessly on old and new iDevices

    By flyinghatchet (Pcmac user)

Have been using this app for 7 months now to monitor 3 D-Link IP cameras. I've used the app with an iPhone 5, iPad Air, iPad 1, and iPhone 4S. Initial setup: it quickly scans and locates the cameras, auto selects the model number, and let's you customize the name and position of thumbnail images (e.g. northwest facing camera on the left, north in the center, and northeast on the right). Have had ZERO crashes and there's plenty of help documentation and support links just in case -- it's just not been needed. No ads, of course, with the paid version (I don't remember if there is a free version). It's even convenient from a Siri standpoint in that she easily recognizes the phrase "Launch D Link" every single time. Also, just used it recently with iOS 8 and have experienced 100% reliability. And I'm talking about the app running continuously on a plugged-in iPad (auto lock disabled) for 3 or 4 days at a time. I do have several other IP camera apps (including the one developed by D-Link) and this one is the best. End of review.
  • Dlink camera utility

    By SIDFLEIS (Pcmac user)

The app isn't intuitive, should be able to find the cameras itself by looking through the list of wireless devices, determining which ones are cameras and managing them. instead it requests ip addresses and passwords that might have been forgotten. Might work well but i never got to be able to use application since i got stuck not knowing what it demanded. Also, didn't have the wireless camera i had the DCS-932L in the list of cameras so i took the 930 hoping it would work. The the app Lite was free, just downloaded it, it found the cameras and i was blissful in my ignorance. Ipads are for inexperienced people. apps should be simple.
