  • iPad version please!

    By Rolly01 (Pcmac user)

July 10, 2019... Just finished setting up 2/3 of the Deco M4. Turned off the wifi on my ISP’s router/modem and started the setup process. Setup was easy and fun. The app just does the hard work for me. All I did was enabled IPv6, and fast Roaming, and I was good to go. Since I left the ISP’s default name and password, I didn’t have to reset all my wireless devices to connect. I started getting pop-up notifications on my iPhone to let me know my devices were connecting. I did have to soft reboot my VIZIO TV because it was registering as an actual wireless network. But that’s about it. The speed does drop when connecting to a remote deco that’s not connected directly via ethernet but it is still stable. But the main one runs as fast and as good as the default router/modem provided to me by my ISP but i get the perks of monitoring everything now via the Deco app. Monitoring promises to be easy and straight forward. I also set up a guest network but have not tried it yet. So far so good. ^^^side note^^^ Did my setup via my iPad because i’m running iOS 13 beta on my iPhone and quickly noticed the app is not customized for it (here I was holding a 12.9 inch iPad and touching an iPhone sized screen interface). Here’s hoping for an actual iPad version of the app.
  • House is painted

    By Mayham13 (Pcmac user)

Well I was in the market for a wash WiFi system and didn’t have TP-Link in my radar and I really should have. I bought the system on a whim from a guy that needed a feature these didn’t have to offer they were brand new and I scored on them. The signal is consistent throughout the house and outside I literally can not complain about anything regarding the system. The app is getting better it from what I understand sucked at some point but I don’t mind it! Prioritizing devices and the ability to optimize the signal for what your using it for is also a nice feature. I only get 25 MBs to the house but the system helps maintain that speed throughout the whole house perfectly! Thanks TP-Link and I’m looking forward to the M9 plus integration into this M5 setup!
  • This is a seriously good app

    By HMTJR (Pcmac user)

I had doubts prepurchase, as the grammar and sentence construction on the TP Link website can maybe be a little lost in translation. But no worries now. This app is clearly organized with good workflows for the user. Things are where you expect them to be, setup wizards are practical and resilient, and the app has been rock solid. Features are abundant for the M5 series (easy to name devices, even offline ones; notifications for newly connected devices, well thought out parental controls, the list goes on) and setting up the hardware was a breeze. They need to build an IPad version to take advantage of the larger screen size and perhaps show a network diagram. Well done by TP Link.
  • How WiFi Should Work

    By Sneaky_Panda (Pcmac user)

Simplistic and effective, this is how all makers of routers should be modeling their products. Set-up took less than 5m (and that included removing the previous router set-up). Most importantly, it works! The speed is great and is constant. Also, I think no enough good things can be said about the user interface. Previously, I would have to login to the archaic admin module from NetGear to see connected devices: now, i get alerts when a new device joins, plus, blocking (‘blacklist’) is a matter of a couple finger touches. Really great work all around.
