  • Well worth the regular price, a steal on sale!

    By hlb (Pcmac user)

Where did this come from? Every once in a while a game appears seemingly out of nowhere, without major fanfare, and turns out to be absolutely enchanting. I usually don't enjoy games where so much depends on well-timed jumping, dodging, stacking things and grappling, but this app's physics feel so fluid and natural that even several deadly mishaps in a row don't cause frustration to set in. The three characters are quite distinctive in their abilities, and it's a lot of fun switching between them to find different ways to overcome obstacles and dispatch foes. The narration and dialogue (sparse, but to the point—caught in a tight spot between multiple enemies, the knight sighs: "Oh, that's just great.") are well-done and set the proper fairy-tale tone. As a bonus the audio can be enjoyed in a variety of languages, such as French and German (I can vouch for the high quality of voice-acting in these two), a little treat language learners may enjoy. Most of the magic of this app, of course, is in the graphics. Fireflies hover around luminous flowers, waterfalls and creeks rush through the scenery, and enchanted forests and caves stretch into the distance, complete with immersive ambient noises. Although this app is essentially a sideways affair, it feels utterly three-dimensional. So good that I nearly felt ashamed paying no more than the sales price of $4.99 for such a gem. Don't let this one get away.
  • Awesome, but can get frustrating

    By ./jay (Pcmac user)

The puzzles and the fighting isn't what's frustrating, it's getting stuck in corners, falling off of platforms, trying to do a double jump… or "pull" yourself up from an edge, stuff like that. The controls can be frustrating. Otherwise it's an awesome game. I was going to wait for this app 2 and save my $20, but I figured the sequal won't be out for another few months, and I didn't want to wait. It's a great game, really, but it's really frustrating in an NES kind of way. I remember throwing my controller across the room so many times because of frustrations just like the ones in this game. Throwing my MacBook Air across the room is not an option. I hope I either get used to this or I hope the sequel is less frustrating. I dont' mind difficult puzzles and bosses; it's getting stuck and dying because of it that gets me.
  • A-FRIGGEN-MAZING!!!

    By Plazmotech (Pcmac user)

It is a super fun game! I played it for a looong time! Although, I got it for $.99, and it's definatly worth it. Although I heard that the original is like 10$ and I don't think I would have payed that much. The game is suuuuuper fun and creative, and not to mention the graphics are BEASTLY! The colors are trippy. The story is the bomb too! Although, when the guy narates, it takes a while, so I just skip. Also, its pretty laggy on my MacBook 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, with 4 GB of memory. I have to run it on low to be ok. Still pretty laggy on low though. Also, it lags to switch characters, like when I press the button, sometimes the character doesn't switch instantly. Also, sometimes I ragequit 'cause the "Puzzels" either tend to be super friggen easy, or friggen hard. So summary: I think it would be worth 5$, but not 10$. Definatly get it if your still in time to get the 99¢ version! I wish I could get this app 2, but 15$… no. Actually, I might consider it. //Plazmotech
  • Great Fun and full of Eye Candy!

    By Loic_Farris (Pcmac user)

This game is simply a joy to play. I bought this on sale for a steal, if you're hesitating at the full price, don't... it's well worth the money. The dynamics of the game are very well thought out. The game combines the action hack and slash style with puzzle solviong. You play 3 characters whom you can switch between at will, each offering specific value needed to get through nearly every area. Like the old side scrollers I loved from the 80s and 90s, this game had a ton of hidden goodies. You don't want to just blaze through every level, take your time and really look around, you might be missing out of a good bit of loot or experience if you don't. It's also worth mentioning that the sound-track is as beautiful as the graphics. This game is a fine example of how video games should be made, no corners cut that I could see at least, solid in every way. I can't wait for a sequal!!
