  • Quality source material + quality programming = great app

    By Vardemon (Pcmac user)

I'm a fan of Montessori style education primarily because of the responsibility it places on the child to learn simply by providing an interesting, educational environment. This app does just that. As a webpage designer/programer I was sold on the quality of the app, but to be able to hand my phone to my 3-yr old and have him on his own go through each exercise was just amazing. He was beaming and turning to look at me every once and a while to say "This is so fun, Daddy." As good as the these Montessori exercises are, this app could have easily been a failure (despite how pretty it is) if it didn't provide an intuitive way for children to explore each exercise on their own. Seeing the confidence in my son's face as he figures things out is just wonderful. It really looks great on my iPhone, but I would love to see it on an iPad. I could almost justify finally buying an iPad just for this app (and the Intro to Letters which is coming soon).
  • Fun 1-10 Math App

    By Terrific2s (Pcmac user)

This app is great for teaching and reinforcing 1-10 number skills. It uses several Montessori activities as its foundation for teaching and reinforcing 1-10 numerals and 1-10 quantities. It has 6 different choices of games. Some of the games have different levels of play to them. The voices are sweet and kind. The interface is child friendly. The app does not go off into all sorts of wild and crazy distracting noises and graphics, but is simple and to the point. It focuses on the objective of learning. The app does not make lots of distracting noises when the “wrong” answer is chosen, but merely asks again for the quantity. Yes, this app is $5 which seems high on the app store, but most people seem to want everything for free on the appstore. This app only works with 1-10. This app is designed for preschoolers just starting out with math. For these things it does a great job and is worth the price of a coffee or a movie to help your child learn
  • We highly recommend this app to anyone!

    By Skagnetty (Pcmac user)

My wife and I downloaded Intro to Math after we noticed it in the "New and Noteworthy" section of iTunes. We were instantly drawn to the beauty of the design and decided to try it out. We wondered if the educational value could meet the aesthetics of the design. After just a few minutes, and the experience of the simplistic charms of the very first activity, we were totally blown away. There are so many layers to the activities, that we even enjoyed playing with them. Having discovered the joys of learning, we opted to gift this app to our nieces, whose parents have since emailed to exclaim, "these are so unique, cool and gorgeous". Later that night, when the kids were asleep, they called to see what else we knew about Montessori. Needless to say, after that much interest, we highly recommend this app to anyone! Looking forward to more from this developer!
  • Perfect Digital Education and Introduction to Numbers and Math

    By countermind (Pcmac user)

Thank you for making this work on both iPad and iPhone. My four year old and three year old just started using this tonight, and I must say that this is quite possibly the best number teaching tool I've ever used with my children. There are a few things that could make it a bit better though - mostly bugs to fix. - Some way to ignore accidental input, especially when moving the rods around. Bumping the screen with the wrist sometimes messes up the goal of the child. - The odd/even lesson doesn't require the child to draw the line all the way down between the dots - they simply have to draw a mark near the center of the dots. - Tracing in the sandpaper is decent, but having to start over exactly where the arrow helper is sometimes frustrating, especially if the tracing has simply skipped a little bit. If you have a child and are thinking of purchasing this, don't let the problems above dissuade you. For $5 this is a steal. I'm really surprised this isn't $10 or more - it's really worth that much.
