  • Regarding the reviews that say you need to spend $25

    By vectorbabe (Pcmac user)

this app is free. However, the product that it hooks up to, the app, does cost $25. It is too bad that some people did not understand how the two products work together. this app is similar to a free plug-in for Photoshop. The plug-in may be free, but the core program (Photoshop) still costs money. If you understand the difference, you will not be unsatisfied with the two products together. I have been using the app on my computer for quite a while. I listen to all sorts of web streams using the app to send them to all my airport express units. (Hey, how come nobody complains that you have to pay for the express units, or the computer, or the web connection?) The only thing that was missing was the ability to send the audio to my iPhone. Very necessary when washing the dishes or trying to drown out the noise from the renovations across the hall. This product works EXACTLY as advertised. I was afraid that the audio on the iPhone might not sync with the audio on the express speakers, but everything is perfect. When I take out the ear buds, I'm listening to the right moment in the music. Don't think of it as a complete stand alone application. Think of this as a terrific new feature for the app.
  • Great Accessory for Airfoil

First, for you malcontents who think you've been baited, the app has been around since 2005, long before the iPhone, and they've just added this app to allow the base the app application to transmit to the phone or ipod. the app is a good app, well worth the price. this app simply adds more capability to the base application. Know the history before you criticize. Last November, I asked Rogue Amoeba if they were considering an app to allow transmission to the iPhone. They replied more or less to "keep watching" implying that this little gem was on it's way. It works as seamlessly as the app, and the app Speakers for your computer. With this, and RemoteTap, I can pretty much control any media on any of my computers from my iPhone, regardless of the application, and not limited to iTunes. Furthermore, the folks at Rogue Amoeba have always been responsive and helpful with support. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is I'd like this app to work in the background, but I think that's out of RA's hands. the app on your computer is well worth the price, and this app just increases it's flexibility. I'm glad it's here.
  • Useful but...

    By BigIslander (Pcmac user)

Great party tool! How cool to be able to extend my home audio system by connecting an amp (or powered speakers) to my phone (a Touch, an old unused iPhone) and, voilà, music on my porch or back yard or deck, all synced with the music playing in the house. Sure I could invest in an AirPlay compatible speaker system, or buy another Airport Express, but this is way handy. I'm using an unused first gen iPhone as the link to my basement sound system. My biggest complaint is an echo of other reviews—something happening in the the app chain from desktop to the app Speakers is resulting in bizarre pitch-bending. It really sounds like the motors in a tape deck going bad, or like someone changed the pitch control on a turntable. The pitch will climb or fall, especially at the beginning of a playlist or song. A very odd result of some sort of digital negotiation between desktop and remotes? Thankfully it does NOT happen 95% of the time. But it gets pretty weird every now and then.
  • Great solution

    By bvocal (Pcmac user)

This is a great solution to filling your home with music, and the more devies and audio systems you have the better it is. Fully 5 stars when the software system improves over time to avoid occasional stutters and the lag decreases, stuff I hope improves over time, at least. I have wanted a solution to this problem ever since I moved into a place with more than 1 room. I can now host parties properly... Of note, my main cpomputer (that feeds my main audio system) is a windows PC and I use MediaMonkey. There is an awesome remote for media monkey called monkeymote. With my stuff all up and running I can use an iphone or an ipad to browse the music library and control playback and volume for audio feed, which means I can turn the volume up and down for the whole house, from my ipad, at will... from anywhere in my wifi zone. $25 is a lot for an app, but this is so great it is actually worth it.
