Great game if you know Japanese

The reviewers complaining about the lack of an English version are pretty ignorant or plain stupid. The world is not just inhabited by English speakers. What would you say, if I complained about every game that doesn't offer a Japanese language version? Btw, this game quizzes you on how to "read" certain words written with Kanji, i.e. Chinese characters. Since there are more than 10,000 characters of which about 2,000 are used on a regular basis, but sport different ways to phonetically read them depending on the meaning, you can understand that this game can be pretty demanding. Thus, it wouldn't make any sense to offer an English version. If you can't read Japanese, it's useless. This is a great game and it does belong in the "games" section as much as scrabble or crosswords belongs in here.

Great, Just for a Limited Audience

If you're a native Japanese speaker, this game is excellent; my wife is Japanese, and she loves it. It's just like some game shows on TV. So far, every native Japanese I've shown it to has instantly been drawn to the challenge. For me, it's useless--the kanji are far too advanced, even though I've lived in Japan for a while. But that's the thing, it's not intended for me--and not for you, unless you're an advanced Japanese speaker. In a way, it's like the "Blanks" app where you guess the right English word based on the definition; that game, way too hard for my wife, was aimed at native English speakers the way this is aimed at Japanese.
As for the category, it definitely belongs in both "games" and "education," as it does both. But just for the limited audience, is all. For what it is, it works very well.

Kanji Power--Practice with Japanese readings of Chinese characters

This is not a game but language study software. Please don't give software a bad review simply because you don't understand it. Some people speak more than one language. If this were only in the Japanese store, than only those with Japanese credit cards could download it. If you don't understand it, don't rate it. The program gives you a character and you have to input the Japanese reading. You can do this either from the kana (かな) keypad or change to romaji with the ASCII button. If you need a hint, hit ヒント in the top left. Top right is pass (パス)

I can't believe there are so many ingorant reviewers. Like the guy before me said it IS A GAME. And you can't offer an English version because it's meant for Japanese. I hate when people review apps to be crap because they don't understand it or just don't use it. And to the guy who said "English apps only", u do realize that the iPhone is in tons of countries and so needs to be aimed as such.
Anyway enough being irate for me. The game is actually pretty cool tho I can't use it but my Japanese girlfriend couldn't put it down. Good game
