  • VPN doesn’t mean sending data; Incompatible with 1.1.1.1

    By Must Exit (Pcmac user)

Firstly to the people wondering about the VPN profile this app sets up. That’s the only way any app can handle system wide network traffic on iOS. So every “firewall” or DNS app will setup a VPN profile. This doesn’t necessarily (or always) mean that your data is being sent to a VPN server, depending on the app. the app Devs: this is currently not compatible with the 1.1.1.1 DNS setup through the Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 app. Your VPN profile shows up in the same section as 1.1.1.1, and iOS doesn’t allow both to be selected. It’s a toggle allowing either 1.1.1.1 or this one to be active at any point in time. Unless that’s resolved, by supporting the configuration of custom DNS within this app, it wouldn’t be useful for those who have third party DNS setup through apps like 1.1.1.1 or DNSCloak. Also please work with Apple to see how two VPN profiles can handle traffic in a chain.
  • Lockdown is essential in today’s world

    By CMaxx21 (Pcmac user)

By now you’ve probably heard all the privacy issues companies such as Facebook and Google are causing by harvesting and selling your personal information. It almost seemed impossible for privacy to exist in a smart phone world with so many entities tracking your every move. the app has provided an amazing way to take back and protect your right to privacy. This app is great. Such an innovative idea and it works great with my existing VPN. A much needed tool in the balancing act between having access to information while not allowing providers to compromise your personal privacy and security. This latest version is super solid and allows the rest of my phone to continue to access Apple mail and my other essential services while giving me the peace of mind to know I can control my information by limiting the trackers that booby-trap the Internet. I don’t usually leave reviews but when I do it’s for a product so awesome, I want to support it to ensure it remains available to help protect our privacy from the prying eyes of private corporations. Thank you the app!
  • Great app

    By Picaman123 (Pcmac user)

Update: I’ve stress tested the latest version and can’t find any issues. It “just works”, invisibly doing what it should. Great update! —————— I’m amazed at how much evil web traffic was going out my phone. This app stops it cold. Simple install and easy to set up - one button and a few options. Some growing pains for a new app but their support is very responsive and helpful. They are improving the app constantly. I love that you can set it and forget it. The only thing that ever broke for me was Mail and they had a updated version with a fix the next day. This should be a default install for every iPhone user!
  • Firewall? I think not.

    By Biff Smallwood (Pcmac user)

If you want to see what a true iOS firewall is, look up Firewall IP, an app that ran/runs on jail broken devices. That app gave you true firewall capability with the ability to block by IP V4 or V6 addresses and hostname. It also allowed you to block TCP and UDP ports. This is not a firewall. A firewall doesn’t need a VPN to function. This is a blacklist. For this to be effective, a dialog box should pop up alerting you to every connection trying to come in or go out and from that dialog box you should be able to block at the app level or across the board. With this, you have to know which websites to block. I don’t see how this is any different from Guardian Firewall + VPN.
