Software Features and Description

1. The notes are stored in a hosted Git Repo of your choice - GitHub / GitLab / Gitea / Gogs / Any Custom-provider.

2. It stores all its notes in a standardised Markdown + YAML header format or plaintext.

3. GitJournal is an open source note taking / journaling app built with privacy and data portability in mind.

4. Never need to import / export your notes, as you always have control of the data.

5. Git has been chosen as a backend as self-hosting a Git server is much simpler than almost any other software, additionally there are already many commercial providers of Git.

6. So you can choose who you want to trust with your notes.

7. We currently don't support encrypting the notes, but it's something we're actively working on.

8. Apps may come and go, but your notes will always be with you.

Install GitJournal app on your Windows in 4 steps below:

Download an Android emulator for PC:
Get either Bluestacks or the Nox App >> . We recommend Bluestacks because you can easily find solutions online if you run into problems while using it. Download Bluestacks PC software Here >> .

Install the emulator:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using GitJournal on PC [Windows 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "GitJournal"
The search will reveal the GitJournal app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once GitJournal is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including GitJournal.
Now enjoy GitJournal on PC.
