New to Roku remote app

I am of fan of the app; I have had one iteration of the app streaming devices since 2014 and four devices since 2016, ranging from the Roku3 to the HD 4 to the app TV; and while the actual hardware for the streaming device themselves are reliable, the the app remotes are less than acceptable. I constantly have challenges with the remotes. Typically it’s the connection of the batteries to metal prongs, I think. I will give second thought to buying another due to the remotes AND the fact that the app has discontinued their news feeds; I was certainly of the late night updates and it was a good place to catch up on the news in one, convenient place but not anymore. I would hope, and expect, since the app has removed the news feeds that the sale price of new the app streaming devices will drop but I’m not holding my breath in that one. So to summarize, I feel the actual steaming hardware the app manufactures is adequate and reliable, EXCEPT for the remotes... come on the app, you can do better.

I’m really impressed with the responsiveness of the buttons and I’m also a fan of the layout of the remote itself it has a good feel one of the best things about this remote is the keyboard button In the middle of the remote ,it’s the best way I’ve ever seen to type on a tv it’s such a great feature and saves time trying to type with the remote it’s an actual keyboard your phone keyboard A+ feature

Only thing missing is when i try to search & use the keyboard..nothing i type actually is added to my search on you tube on the screen.. and i ended up typing it again as normally would on the app.. which is too slow so i never use it,only other easy tv apps .. the rest i just do on computer seperate from tv the app since i have no patience or time to use the arrows one by one to get to the next letter on the the app slow way of typing instead of having a keyboard function that actually works. I see the keyboard there & i bring it up.. but just dont show up in tv
Better than other versions

So far its working great! It easier to use the remote via phone since its always with you and the extra devive can be stored away. Its faster than another version I have for my 2nd TV. Update: Also the free premium version of this remote after writing a review is only available via itunes which is annoying 😐..why not app store I downloaded another the app app whose layout is better with bigger buttons which makes it easier to navigate. You can also connect you earphones to you tv audio via that app o your phone . So im updating my review to 3.
