  • They make it hard to meet your weekly gioal

    By mindy_va (Pcmac user)

Like other reviewers I am frustrated that after a few weeks my activity goal was moved to 7 times a week! At first the app was really motivating and I was consistently hitting or exceeding my weekly goals. It motivated me to increase the number of times I worked out each week. But then my goal got moved to 7 times a week which is really hard to meet!! It doesn’t account for a day you forget to wear your watch, or a day spent on travel, or a day that you’re sick, or just a day that you need to rest. And as soon as you miss one of your daily goals what is the motivation to hit any of the other daily goals that week?? You already know you won’t get the weekly bonus. To maintain motivation the reward program should be modified. What if you got points for every day you met your goal and then another bonus for meeting all 7 in a week? Then at least there is still motivation to meet daily goal even if the weekly bonus is out of reach. The all or nothing point system for weekly goals can be defeating. As it is I feel like I just got suckered into paying for an Apple Watch. I hope Aetna reads these reviews and finds a way to modify program so that it sustains enthusiasm and motivation.
  • Yes goals are aggressive

    By Nikifiona (Pcmac user)

So for me the calorie goal is good, because for most days I meet the calories it selected for me without purposely exercising. However, I am shocked that it expects you to meet those goals 7 days per week without rest. Also, I didn’t get an Apple Watch as I didn’t qualify but I can earn rewards for gift cards. Luckily for me if I miss the goals I don’t have an Apple Watch bill staring me in the face. But, I would be horrified if I had to work out 7 days per week to get that. Reading other reviews made me realize that the this app app is not very reasonable to those they offered watches to. I do like the app for me, but I had to take a star off for the 7 day goals they are expecting me to eventually meet. I am hoping that at some point they give you a rest day or two and it doesn’t stay at 7 days forever. If so then I suggest the developers change their work week to a 7 day work week without time for rest. Sounds unreasonable right?
  • App need work and a common sense check

    By Leviathanink (Pcmac user)

Overall, this program seemed like a pretty good way to get people interested in being healthier. I don’t really share a lot of the concerns on here about sharing my data. My main issue with the app is their algorithm which adds a day to your required calorie completion whenever you have a successful week. Basically after a few weeks you’ll be expected to hit the 600 calorie goal 7x a week or you won’t get the weeks point bonus (which is the only way to actually pay off the watch using points.) It’s not sustainable. Rest days are part of any sensible workout plan. When I contacted support they sent me a form letter detailing how the algorithm works without actually addressing the issue at all. On top of that, every week I’ve had to email support (since starting about 2.5 months ago) to get credited for completing my daily goals because the app seems to mysterious drop days when it resets at night (even though the circles are filled and the Apple health app has my active kcal way over 600 for every day of the week.) TL;DR It’s ok for a little motivation to workout every day, though It’s very unlikely that you’ll be able to get the points to get the watch for free. (update) Adjusting the star rating again for their ongoing refusal to address any of the major issues with the app.
  • Good program, bad implementation

    By RedundantReviewRedundant (Pcmac user)

I like the idea of the program. I have to write in to get them to correct my points quite often, it is rather tiresome. Often I will complete every calorie goal every day and not get the weekly bonus. To the app developers credit, they fix the error every time I complain. That said, it feels ‘slimy’ to have this as a recurring error. Like it is a shady way for Aetna to not have to fulfill their commitment (which feels like it fits in with the American healthcare system perfectly, especially health insurance’s role).
