Brilliant
By zoecat56 (Pcmac user)
Brandon,
I just have to say .....you are a genius! My 92 year old mom has been hard of hearing for 30 plus years. The last 2-3 really bad(she doesn’t like the deaf word though) Her lip reading skills are not like they use to be. We have tried the hearing helper the app, but it is no where as efficient as your is. We have tried writing tablets, use a lot of hand gestures, but as you know so frustrating. The reason I found your the app tonight, was my Mom was quite pitiful as she came into the kitchen area where me and my sister were talking..and said...”I am so tired of not being able to be in a conversation with anybody, the two of you just don’t understand what it is like not to be able to hear and have conversations”. It was then I realized, have I just been complacent with what we had that I wasn’t searching for help anymore.
So, I decided to search again....entered talk to text device for the deaf...and up your the app came(okay maybe the the 4 th or 5 th thing on page). Anyway, I read the first review and downloaded it, tried it with mom and omg it picked up my every word and yes I could even change the font size and I can point the screen to hear as I am talking. I have the happy dance going on!!!

Thank goodness for Brandon!

I lost all (yes, I mean all) of my hearing ten years ago and went through so much depression, agoraphobia, anger, frustration, and just plain embarrassment over the whole ordeal. Losing your hearing is a traumatic event and my friends pulled away from me as much as I did from them. It felt like I died, it felt like I didn’t count anymore, I am now discriminated against right to my face, it is a real tragedy that I hope not many others begin at age 36 like I did.
This device, however, has the power to change this. This is not Dragon Dictation or any other dictation the app you have tried and fought with them eventually gave up on. I tried it simply because I figured a man who built this for his father did it for real and with all his heart and wanted to change his father’s life.
Well, he has in just three days changed mine also. I used it all day each day so far and I am so happy that I can so easily communicate with my relatives and friends that I I have now. This device is real-time, not deaf-time. There’s no delay and it simply listens all the time. My mom was so very pleased when we ate lunch today and had the fullest conversation we have had since I went left in 2008.
This is a real game changer and with a man like Brandon behind it doing it all for his dad, it can only get better!
So worth it. Wish it had existed sooner! I thank anyone who helped create this wonderful the app!
Sincerely yours,
Sharyn Thoma Guay

Feels like a prototype - Better Apps Out There
By AppReview00001 (Pcmac user)
I like the full screen aspect of this the app. However, it feels like a prototype, no instructions, no font type options, font size is limited, and the current solution to clearing the screen is ridiculous. Instructions for punctation in sentences, skipping lines (hint: new paragraph), and improving accuracy would help. As a "Dragon Natuarally Speaking" software on the PC before the iPhone and Siri, I found that some of the "Dragon Speech Recognition" commands work in this the app (just like a lot of other siri based apps). Overall, the app MyEar feels underdeveloped and clunky. Expected much more for $9.99. It is better than nothing if it opens the lines of communication with the hard of hearing. However, better options are out there, like the "Make It Big" the app which is more developed (lacks full text screen) and is free.

WOW!
By wesweb (Pcmac user)
I just downloaded this the app minutes ago and I’m already amazed at its potential to change my life! I have state-of-the-art hearing aids but there are still times when I don’t understand what is being said. I also have a landline phone that has a screen that prints the caller’s words on it but there is a several second delay with that system.
The “the app My Ear” has no delay at all! It is amazingly responsive! I can’t wait to try it at church or in a meeting. I can’t thank the developer enough for this amazing the app. To me, $10 for this the app is a bargain!
