Pros:

- Great concept and interaction with Apple TV

- Fun to play and keep pace with the players in the episode

- Exciting to get Final Jeopardy right when the players don't

- Easy to use and navigate

Cons:

- Pronunciation bugs can cause correct answers to be marked as incorrect

- Only one free trial game, each episode thereafter costs up to $1

- App can kick you out or not give you the option to buzz in

- Voice recognition is sometimes poor, especially with foreign language names or responses

- Daily double wagering system isn't clear and runs too rapidly

- Ring-in should be press-to-talk instead of staying active and picking up nearby sounds and speech.

  • Fun, but too much $$ per game

    By finesse90 (Pcmac user)

Great concept and interaction between my phone and my Apple TV. I had a blast playing, keeping pace against the players in the episode and even getting the Final the app right when they didn’t. I realized quickly that I had to speak VERY clearly, and did encounter a few pronunciation bugs. In one instance, the game even heard my correct answer exactly, yet still marked my response as incorrect. Then, when the game ended, so did the fun. I learned that this was the only free trial game, and each individual episode thereafter costs up to about $1.00 EACH. A few cents less if you buy in bulk, but JEEZ. I agree with everyone else reviewing: that’s a lot to pay for a game style where each episode has zero replay value, unless you play with new people every time. Suggestions: one free episode per day. Ad breaks during the “commercials.” And above all, lower the cost of your episode packs. Otherwise, I’ll have to charge my friends admission at the door.
  • Awesome concept but app needs help

    By Nicole Wisniowski (Pcmac user)

This is a really, really fun app when it works. You have to have a lot of patience - sometimes the game will kick you out of the app entirely, either before the play starts or in the middle of a game. Sometimes the show will play but won't give you the option to buzz in. And sometimes you'll say the correct answer (it'll even show on the screen that you said it correctly) and the game will say that you answered incorrectly. I'd say there's probably a 50% success rate. It'd be nice to have somewhere to call for assistance - I've spent $60 so far on packages, and it'd be nice to get my money back on episodes I wasn't able to play. And if it matters - the tournament of champions was the worst for glitches - I maybe was able to play one full game in that package. And the All Star package was the one kicked me out of the app entirely the most. Thanks! Obviously it's fun when it works because I keep spending money...
  • Not Great...Yet

    By EddieValiant (Pcmac user)

This is a really fun idea, but the app doesn’t work in many ways. 1) I couldn’t paste a secure password I created during the registration process. 2) I declined the Facebook link and the app kicked me all the way back to the beginning forcing me to login again. 3) Ring-in should really be press-to-talk. Instead, the microphone stays active, picking up any sounds and speech nearby and messing up your answer (especially when you’re shouting “NOOOO!” when the speech recognition doesn’t work. 4) The app lets you skip the introduction, but forced you to sit through contestant interviews. 5) There’s no way to turn off phone vibration. 6) The episodes all cost money. While it’s fun to play with real episodes, there should be a bunch of free episodes and specific paid content packs. But perhaps the biggest issue: The speech recognition is BAD. This would have been a game-changer as the app games have often relied on multiple choice. I failed many questions, even when I tried to annunciate clearly. It’s also frustrating to watch the recognition struggle when the answer isn’t a normal word and your correct answer ends up being wrong. As it stands, after my experience with the free sample episode, there’s no way I would pay for any more. The experience is too broken, but I still think it can be great someday!
  • Nice Game, but poor voice recognition technology

    By Planelover777 (Pcmac user)

This is a nice way to play along with the app!, but the voice recognition is sometimes poor. I have seen the tool write things on the screen that were barely close to what I had spoken into my phone. Especially if you are speaking to a foreign language name or a response in a foreign language. It is almost comical. Agree also that the daily double wagering system isn’t clear, and runs too rapidly. The clock should be longer, especially since speaking a wager never works, and using the slider isn’t precise. I ended up wagering only a quarter of what I wanted because the slider jumped backwards when I removed my finger from my phone at the end of the slider. Please update!
