Software Features and Description

1. • Your real progress: Scelta compares your average weight for the selected time span to the previous time span, eg.

2. Swiping on it reveals your weekly rate of weight change and how well you adhered to your goal in the 7, 14 oder 30 day average comparison on that day.

3. Scelta uses the Health app that is pre-installed on your iPhone to show already existing weight data and to save new entries.

4. Achievements you unlock and points you collect to climb the leader boards are a result of how well you adhere to your goals and not your actual weight entries.

5. Scelta calculates this “scale delta“ for you and makes weight tracking approachable, meaningful, a lot of fun and incredibly motivating.

6. Salty food, hydration status, sleep, stress, and hormonal fluctuations are just some of the many factors that can influence your weight heavily in the short term.

7. The difference, also known as delta, between these time spans is a very informative indicator of what really happens to your body weight.

8. Because of this Scelta will ask you to grant read- and write-access to your weight data.

9. Your weight fluctuates from day to day and it’s difficult to say whether you gained weight, lost weight or just had a heavy day.

10. Your weight is only visible to you and is not sent or visible to anyone but yourself.

11. Your weight fluctuates daily.

  • Enjoyable way to track progress

    By Mosa00 (Pcmac user)

I stumbled across this app and the graphing/averaging is what caught my eye so decided to try it. Glad I did as I started using it more I discovered that the way to use this app was daily and consistent entries which was always a problem for me to commit to in the past. The SP coins seemed gimmicky at first but soon became pleasurable and rewarding to collect as progress was made. In turn that reinforced the desire for daily updates to the tool. Anybody who’s gone on the weight loss train knows it’s difficult to establish then keep long term habits to make progress. Also one has bouts of ‘lack of visible progress’ which leads to slacking off the focus and eventually dropping the habits and this tool at least in my use has gotten me thru those valleys as the progress graphs reveal there’s still the correct trending directions.... kinda kicks ya back on track. Anyway thanks for making this app as good as it is. And agree with other opinions that it would be nice to see longer trending options beyond 30 days... Tim
  • Health app or game?

    By TheJonnyLegend (Pcmac user)

I keep a weight log for medical reasons. I tried this app to have a different view of my changes. Since my goal is to not lose weight the goal is set near 0% and is heavily affected by changes. The longer the term, the easier to stay on course. I soon became obsessed with accumulating coins. Although I didn’t try to control my weight I was setting alarms to make sure I gathered my coins every 18 hours, regardless of my other activity. I soon raced up the standings. Then I convinced myself that I was actually using the app as a tool and all these other people were just playing a game. I was honorable and they were all cheaters! I realized how someone could set themselves up to gather coins/points in the most expeditious manner possible and that they must have figured it out also. Finally, I have gotten back to using this as a tool to aid my health. Although I will continue to gather points when I can, I have calmed (not lost!) my obsession with the “game” aspect of the app. After all, I gotta get back in the top 10!
  • Tracking is fun, math is weird

    By TallulahRabbit (Pcmac user)

I enjoy the game like quality to the app and enjoy earning my coins as I progress toward my goal. I agree it is nicer to see a portion of my weight loss goal than looking at the monster desired total goal. Anyhoo, that being said, the math is funny. This week I am ahead of my goal but my percentage stays at 63%. I read in another review the idea behind this is to avoid crash dieting and will penalize people who lose too much weight. I understand trying to stick to the goal, but I shouldn’t be penalized for working my tush off and losing more this week. Seems like an odd system that is not particularly motivating. Granted I am only two weeks in but it seems odd to be punished for my apparently picking an arbitrary number that turned out to be lower than I was capable of achieving. I will adapt going forward, but still seems like an odd situation.
  • Useless

    By UnusedNickame9999 (Pcmac user)

Don’t waste your time downloading this app. Totally useless. I gave it over two weeks to impress me and it failed miserably. Deleting! Hi Joe, I received your reply to my review. I got the email yesterday; although, I wrote the review on the 16th of January and you “replied” on the “18th.” Curious as to how it’s possible to get an email close to five months after the original post. Entirely random I’m sure. Your app made no sense and there were no clear instructions on how to use it. I would prefer an app that is user friendly and doesn’t require a class on algorithms. Due to the fact that it’s been an extended amount of time since I deleted the app (and honestly, it became irrelevant to me before I even got around to getting rid of it) I don’t recall anything else. Also, it would help if you asked for feedback slightly more sincerely. Good luck in your future endeavors, but kindly leave me alone now.
