Install Wi_Fi Socket app on your Windows in 4 steps below:
- Download an Android emulator for PC:
Get either Bluestacks or the Nox App >> . We recommend Bluestacks because you can easily find solutions online if you run into problems while using it. Download Bluestacks PC software Here >> .
- Install the emulator:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.
- Using Wi_Fi Socket on PC [Windows 10/ 11]:
- Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "Wi_Fi Socket"
- The search will reveal the Wi_Fi Socket app icon. Open, then click "Install".
- Once Wi_Fi Socket is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including Wi_Fi Socket.
- Now enjoy Wi_Fi Socket on PC.

Works Perfectly

Even when I thought I would have to switch WiFi to 2.4GHz on phone to turn on or off, after initial detection and set up on 2.4GHz AP, it controls from 5GHz once set up... Unsure if this had related to my Router being dual band & accessing device across itself or if socket is using Bluetooth instead? Either way, I'm very pleased with!

Alexa Enabled?

Apparently this can’t be controlled by Alexa (or the Smart Things app) What a bummer!!!
Update December 2019: I got feedback from the this app app that I could make this socket work with Alexa by changing the device name to make sure there are no Chinese characters in it. However the instructions on doing that weren’t clear so I wasn’t able to accomplish that.
Setting up scenes doesn’t give you options to set a clock to start or stop a scene. You can only choose from things like sunrise/sunset or outside temperature in you location. I can’t even set this up with the Smart Things app (which would help with Alexa control).
Update: I found out how to set the this app to a clock schedule. You can’t set it up in ”scenes”. You have to go to “devices” and click on the tiny arrow after the name of your device. It will expands to where you can set multiple start and stop times.
I still have had no luck getting this this app to be controlled by Alexa or Smart Things.

Newest version of app not available in AppStore

I’ve had the plug and app for over a year and up until yesterday I really liked them. Now I try to log in to my app on my iPhone 11 and I’m getting a message that I need to download the newest version of the app. The old app is up to date, and there is no new version to be found in the AppStore.
I tried on my Samsung tablet and got the same message, and when I looked in the Google Play Store I found a new version of the app. I downloaded the new app and it works. Really annoyed that updates were released that made the only working iOS app obsolete and no longer useful.

Worked without problem

I just bought this from Target, and based on the apps reviews was worried it wouldn't work. I plugged it in, downloaded the app, setup an account and Wifi, and done. Working great and app is simple to use. I'm using it to turn the Christmas lights on and off without having to go down into the garage do it.
