  • This isn't a dear diary app for the paranoid

    By Ceekay Mars (Pcmac user)

I love this app, I live in a high crime area and even had someone knocking on my windows late one night to test if anyone was home, so this is a must have app and makes me feel more secure. With that said, there really is no oversight regarding the content allowed, which is mostly fearmongering, when it's obvious the "suspicious" activity reported is Jehovah's Witnesses, Door to Door Sales, etc., Please employ a moderator for the app to review posts prior to uploading or add a report spam button so if enough people complain the post is deleted. Also after this latest update there is no longer a notification option in settings so I don't get any notifications now, it just reads disabled. *UPDATE* uninstalling/reinstalling fixed the notifications issue, but app desperately needs moderators, some users are actually trying to bully others into turning off their alerts altogether to avoid receiving bogus false alarm reports. This app is for suspicious or dangerous activity ONLY. Someone with a Clipboard, name badge, water bottle and smart device, equals salesman, people in groups wearing church attire and holding Bibles equal Jehovah's witnesses. I wish there was a penalty on this app for wittingly posting false reports, barred for an ever increasing amount of time for each offense.
  • An App for OCD curtain-twitchers, made by a company that abuses the data they get from its users

    By cryotek7 (Pcmac user)

I’ll start by saying I think the idea for this App is a good one, however its achilles is over intrusive privacy settings and the overly paranoid user base it attracts, and yes I get the irony in that sentence. I don’t know why this App requires such strict geographic settings in order to interact with posted material. For some reason it has to know exactly where I live and requires that I share my location with the App constantly. This is massively over the top to the point it’s just harvesting data from its users. Perhaps the biggest issue is that the user base seems to mostly be made up of paranoid curtain twitchers who will post any random video of sales people, delivery people, etc and assume they’re up to no good. There have been around 10 posts in 3 weeks in my area and none are of crimes being committed or anything that would help stop crimes happening. They’re basically all people wanting to know who was the person ringing their doorbell, and there overreactions to not knowing. Ring needs to do more so normal users can flag posts as spam otherwise their App will drown in false-positive posts and people will stop using it due to it being a waste of their time.
  • This app

    By L.A 2.4~ (Pcmac user)

This app is really helpful cause you never know what might and happen and happen next too. With this app you can prepare yourself if anything happens around you in your neighborhood and prepare. Also one example is leaving your car open, When you leave your car open just like my mom sometimes I automatically lock it cause I seen what happens to a car that’s open. The thief starts walking around the car to see if there’s anything valuable and then sees if the car is unlocked if the car is unlocked because of them walking around it to see the valuable things they will just quickly get the thing and leave but, They could strike you again without you looking just like the first time. Thank you to the creators of this app.
  • Won't show videos & no help

    By Jimboatwork (Pcmac user)

It alerts when someone puts up a video, and my wife can see it on her iPhone, but it just goes on perma-load (black screen with a swirl) until you wear down and give up... which has been the same experience I have had with customer service. Vague advice that anyone knows, but I did it - delete, reload, I even did a factory phone reset recently. Didn't work before it, doesn't work after it. That is what it is, but when customer service is little more than a litany of "We're working on it for you" messages followed by "We haven't heard from you so please let us know if you are still having problems or we will close your case in 2 days" emails, you soon realize they are just wearing you down until YOU give up and go away. It's bad enough the doorbell can't pick up a router through the wall 2 feet away fast enough to answer the bell or see movement, but to have to forward the this app messages to email so I can copy the link and open it in Safari... well, what is there in that runaround to give a 2nd star? I'm giving serious thought to going to a mew system before I have to pay yet another year's maintenance fee.
