What is Caltrans QuickMap? The Caltrans QuickMap app provides real-time traffic information to California drivers. It displays a map of the user's location along with various traffic details such as freeway speed, traffic camera snapshots, lane closures, CHP incidents, highway information, changeable message signs, chain controls, snow plows, county boundaries, border wait times, safety roadside rest areas, and Waze data. The app allows users to customize which options to display and remembers their preferences. It also offers geotargeted notifications to alert users of road closures near their location.
1. If you choose to enable Geotargeted Notifications, this app will monitor your location in the background and alert you (via a Push Notification) to State Highway System road closures occurring near you.
2. Click on a CHP, lane closure, changeable message sign or chain control icon to view details for that marker.
3. Zoom to a view of other parts of California with the Location button.
4. Something not right with the data displayed on the map? Please send us an email to quickmap@dot.ca.gov rather that letting us know with a low-rated review.
5. Click on traffic camera icons to see a camera image.
6. Load the latest data on the map using the Refresh button.
7. Continued use of background location may decrease battery life.
8. Traffic data is updated every few minutes.
9. Get your California traffic information directly from the source.
10. Set which of these options to display and QuickMap will remember your preferences.

- QuickMap provides up-to-date road closures, chain requirements, camera views, and traffic slow-downs, making it an essential travel tool for navigating winter storms and flooding.
- The app is easy to use and more convenient than the equivalent web page.
- QuickMap allows users to change the base Google Map view to "Terrain," which is very helpful in mountainous areas.
- QuickMap is not as useful as the old San Diego real-time traffic report (SDRTT), which provided more detailed information, such as actual freeway speeds and real-time data from freeway sensors.
- The app only provides four colors to indicate traffic conditions, and users have to guess what each color means and where the threshold between them lies.
- QuickMap does not have a link to the current CHP activity in chronological order, which was a useful feature in the SDRTT map.
- The state maps in QuickMap should be designed more like the SDRTT map, which provided more details about each ramp and transition.
Very useful; need Terrain view
Ok but
Poor substitute for San Diego Real Time Traffic map!
SO HELPFUL
