What is FirstView?

FirstView® is a mobile application designed for parents to keep track of their student's school bus journey. It provides real-time information about the location of the bus, estimated arrival times, and notifications about delays. The app is a partnership between First Student and the school districts they serve, providing increased transparency and communication for families.

Software Features and Description

1. • The FirstView® map screen shows you the live location and direction of your student’s bus, your student's stop schedule for the current day and timestamps for school arrivals and departures.

2. FirstView® is your resource for knowing the location of your student’s bus, estimated arrival times at your student’s stop and when your student’s bus arrives or departs their school.

3. FirstView® is a partnership between First Student and the school districts we serve, bringing increased transparency and communication about the school bus for students and their families.

4. Currently, FirstView® is only available to a small number of school districts but we are working hard to offer it to as many districts as possible! Please contact your school district or our FirstView® support team if you would like to know if FirstView® is available for you.

5. Designed with parents, for parents – FirstView®, powered by First Student, makes you a part of your student’s journey.

6. • Analyzing route and real-time GPS data, we determine an estimated time of arrival to your stop provided on the FirstView® map.

7. • Set up push or email notifications alerting you when your student's bus is a chosen distance or number of minutes away from your stop.

8. • The main user of the FirstView® app can connect three additional email accounts to receive email alerts.

9. • FirstView® requires a password-protected account along with your student’s ID for app set-up.

10. Using individual colors for each student, every selected stop appears on the map simultaneously for easy viewing and differentiation.

11. • Receive push messages about why your student’s bus is late and an estimation of how long it will be delayed.

Install FirstView app on your Windows in 4 steps below:

Download an Android emulator for PC:
Get either Bluestacks or the Nox App >> . We recommend Bluestacks because you can easily find solutions online if you run into problems while using it. Download Bluestacks PC software Here >> .

Install the emulator:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using FirstView on PC [Windows 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "FirstView"
The search will reveal the FirstView app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once FirstView is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including FirstView.
Now enjoy FirstView on PC.

To get started, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto "Playstore on PC" » click "Configure_Download" button. This will auto-download and install PlayStore on your computer.

To use FirstView,
- Login to the PlayStore we just installed
- Search for "FirstView" » then Click "Install".
- FirstView will now be available on your Windows start-menu.

FirstView functions

My child’s student number can’t be do me for reason. It’s a great app but I can’t seem to get it to work this year round

I used to love this app because it had a little countdown on the screen of an estimation of how many minutes away my daughters bus was. That feature is gone now. I emailed my feedback through the app and the response I got was that that feature was never there. Makes no sense. I was told that the gps on the map would be able to tell me the location of her bus in concordance with the pick up location(using a visual marker but it is NEVER accurate. My daughters bus was in front of my house and the app showed that it was on the opposite side of the city. It’s useless and it’s very frustrating. I emailed screen shots to ask for help and never got a response.

When it works it great! Syracuse weather can be extreme so during cold weather or rain it’s great to have this app to gauge when the bus will be arriving to reduce the time we are waiting outside. However when the app isn’t working waiting in the frigid cold is no fun, even when you are properly layered Or missing the bus because the app tells you you have 10 minutes just for it to refresh and show that the bus has already passed.

I was having issues with the time of my daughters drop off ranging 20+ minutes late, emailed feedback with my concerns and they were fantastic to answer and resolve all of the issue! I spoke with Stephen, and he kept me up to date with updates and reasonings. It put me at ease and made me feel more comfortable fo my 4 year olds transportation!
