Best game I’ve ever played
by Animatronic Toychica
I love horror/mystery games and adventure games there amazing and very interesting to me. And this game got me very interesting when I played for the first part of it I thought in my head “I need to play more and finish it.” This game is the best I love it. I absolutely love the characters personalities. And whenever I see anything in red I immediately use the radio because I know that I have to use it. And if I had to choose who to come with me it would be either Jonas or Nana (Note: I’m not sure if I typed her name right sorry if I didn’t type it right.) Anyways I chose Jonas because he has been with me ever since we got trapped in that cave and because I care about him (I know he’s a character in a game but it feels real lol please don’t judge me.) But for Nana I can have a talk with her about stuff and about Clarrisa (again I probably type her name wrong I know what her name is but I don’t know how to type it I know how to type Ren, and Jonas) And I wanna see if Ren and Jonas are going to continue yelling at each other when we leave them (Note: if you make another game but with a whole different story and characters I will play it and instantly love it even tho I haven’t played it yet Ok bye I’m gonna continue playing it. And this game has to be my favorite adventure/maybe mystery/horror game)
This game... THIS game.
So, if you’re like me, you only buy app games once every couple of months, if that. But when you do, you spend a looooong time trying to find juuust the right one, so you don’t waste this golden opportunity of spending for pleasure. I wanted something with heart, with a strong story, multidimensional characters, and, most importantly, the ability to unnerve me. Lemme tell you: I found all that, and much more. It was difficult for me to even go to sleep after starting it. I had to force myself to put it down, and immediately gravitated towards it once I was awake again. And playing it at night? BONUS. Totally unnerved me, to the point I had to make one of my pet rats accompany me downstairs to get some water in the dark, put him on my shoulder and told him to play lookout. This game was sending chills down my spin, delicious, spin-tingling chills. I love being scared in the way this game does so well. And now that I’ve finished it for the first time? I want to start all over and try for another ending. It’s all so intriguing, that playing again for new results feels like a fresh adventure and not a chore. If you enjoy unnerving stories, Poltergeist, Stephen King, Stranger Things, scary stories to tell in the dark, and the like, then you’re gonna love this game. And yes, it’s worth the $4.99.
Wow. Just wow...
This game is just friggin great. I love the multiple endings, and how your choices matter and impact the story. I feel like this game is way more than “horror”. It’s beautiful backgrounds, amazing character backstory, it has it all. When you finish the game, it makes you want to play it again, and again.
The only thing I’m not a fan of is when you redo the game it seems the “horror element” of the game fades away. As I said though, something just makes me want to come back. If you play the game specifically trying to befriend a character, your choice to do that impacts everyone else. I’m interested in any other games you do in the future, if any at all. I’d like to see what else you guys can do, but this one game, seems enough for now. For anyone who thinks it isn’t scary at ALL, focus on other elements. Some of my friends who have this game there is one thing they say they don’t like, and that is it isn’t all that scary to them. I can agree slightly, but the other fantastic elements in this game makes you not really care about it. My friends agree.
As I said I love this game, and I’m interested in anything else made you make,
If you make any more at all.
The best iPhone game on the App Store
by Norse War Cleric
I never ever leave reviews for apps, unless they're terrible enough or fantastic enough, and so far Oxenfree is the only game i've found worthy of a five star review.
When I was traveling in Spain, walking 10km every day with a large group of people, the only thing I wanted to do when we finally stopped and rested for the morning was play Oxenfree. This game kept me up from 10pm to 3am for 3 nights in a row until I finished. Any free time when I had ample time, I'd pull out my phone, plug in my headphones and start playing. The game is extremely easy to learn, the art is fantastic, it has an amazing soundtrack, and the story is unlike anything I've ever seen. The characters are all interesting and have a unique personality, so it's like you're really there on the island. The method of selecting your dialogue and the "choose your own adventure" system is fantastic. There's not just one ending, and your decisions influence what happens. My only complaint about playing Oxenfree is that now every other app on the app store seems dull. Even though Oxenfree has made every other game seem bland, playing it was worth it.
Understanding & Overall!
by The Video Game Noob
I’ve just started the game, but have already spent about 2-3 hours playing this game. The game is a tiny smidge hard to understand at first, but the game has thrown me on a rollercoaster so far! This game is really for those who want a classic horror story. The games not to the point where it’s terrifying, but I don’t recommended it for those who absolutely HATE supernatural/paranormal involvement. The only thing I don’t like is that to get to a certain place, you have a to travel across the island. I get that it kind of takes away from the whole aspect, but it would be nice if I could just tap a location on the map and travel there quickly. That’s really my only complaint. I recommend this for anyone who enjoys supernatural/paranormal topics, adventure, etc. Really glad Edward Islands isn’t a real place. If it was, I’d never go there. I’m not the type of teenager who enjoys drinking and going to haunted abandoned islands. It’s a good that I can do this through a game and not in real life! I’d really like to thank humanity for creating video games! Just hope that we don’t get a case of Jumanji. That would be problematic...
Astonishing game with quality unexpected of a mobile game
This is an amazing adventure in every aspect. The game does a spectacular job of immersing you as Alex, you feel a personal connection to the character while projecting yourself into her, with many ways to interact and converse with the other characters, who are unique and interesting. Some meant to gain your fondness immediately while others push you away, as you learn the quirks and personalities of these characters you quickly begin to relate to them and understand why they act as they do. It's difficult not to care and really feel for these characters. The art is beautiful, the atmosphere is fitting with it being light-hearted yet anxiety-inducing and at some points frightening, all while maintaining a sense of a larger story due to how cryptic everything is. The story is wonderful, all while purposefully not giving you every detail as to leave it with a feel of mystery. The voice acting is great and the dialogue is just as good. This game is of quality that I would not expect out of a mobile game, and it most certainly shows.

This game was AMAZING! It was so fun to play. I had chills every now and then. The story was so unique and amazing. However, I have a few complaints. The story was incredible and I bought the full version because of it. I was so excited to see how it would end!!! It was thrilling! But then as soon as the game was actually over, I realized that it had never actually explained to me why everything was happening and whether or not it was ghosts or possession or some other weird stuff. It just left it up for me to decide, which was only bad because I had been dying to know what was causing everything and if it was actually stopped or if something happened to Alex. The way it ended kind of made me mad. But I can understand it I suppose. Another minor issue was the fact that it was slightly difficult to have to drag the characters everywhere. But it was well worth it just because of the great game. Although I would’ve liked to know the characters better too. A lot of things were brought up and then ignored which left a me with a lot of questions. So if u hate cliffhangers and not knowing all whats happening then this is NOT the game for you.
Does Not Disappoint!
I bought this game shortly after reading the amazing reviews. I am so happy I purchased because this game was one of the best I've played in some time. The first thing I immediately noticed was how much I love the animation. It's not as if you're playing a game where they cut corners and everybody is 2D; you can tell this was made with great attention to detail from the overall aspect to the detailing in characters and scenes. It takes you through this mysteriously intriguing and sometimes frightening night in which you must decide how to survive with your friends on an island near your home town. The island is abandoned and the characters get more than they bargained for when they explore a nearby cave just a little too much. The main character's storyline also really kept me interested which is a must have whenever I play these games. It's also very easy to follow but delivers just enough suspense that you have to actually think. I 10/10 recommended this game as a purchase. So worth it for the price as well. Please let there be a second one🙏🏽
Beautiful. Brilliant. Inclusive. (Visually impaired friendly indie game!)
I’m a huge nerd and I love to game. I especially love puzzle adventures. Unfortunately, I have a genetic eye disease, generally restricting me to turn-based action games and games with very little character interaction due to dialogue reading.
Oxenfree changed everything for me. Brilliantly voice acted, with just enough time to choose dialogue options, to create intriguing character interactions that advance the story. The radio is a fun and simple mechanic, providing a way to make the game interesting for all players, but accessible to those who may not have the same capabilities as others (such as myself). All of this, plus absolutely beautiful art. Seriously, I live in Washington State, which is where Oxenfree takes place (on an island renamed from Bainbridge to Edwards for the purpose of the game) and it perfectly captures the spooky beauty of the evergreen state.
I don’t know if the team behind Oxenfree intended to make such an inclusive game, but they managed it in an elegant and intelligent way. I cannot wait to see what this team does next.
This game is amazing. I don't usually play video games; I don't own any consoles. But I saw Oxenfree on the App Store and read some reviews of the console version and decided to take the risk and purchase it. Wow, am I glad I did! It's beautiful, enchanting, and, at times, terrifying. You'll be on the edge of your seat, and you'll want to cry, and you'll laugh. I can't recommend this game enough. Plus, the studio is really cool; I noticed an issue with the gameplay and tweeted with the developers, and within a few days, they told me they would communicate with their engineers about the issue! The issue didn't stop me from playing, but I'm just so amazed that they took the time to communicate with me about this. Truly a studio that cares about the players. I'm now on my second run, and make sure to select "continue timeline" and watch what happens! I'm so excited, and I can't wait to see how the story changes. The music is amazing, the voice acting is so realistic, and the art is just plain incredible. If I could give this 10 stars I would.
