  • While convenient; lacks specificity in regards to specialty

    By mfrazier77819 (Pcmac user)

This app is convenient if you are on the go but not if you are busy. Most apps are ridiculously simple to navigate- think facebook app or Uber app.. this app is confusing and lacks a good workflow.. I realize medicine is more complicated than looking at your old college roommate’s new wedding photos or trying to book a ride when you have had too much too drink- but why should it be? Regarding EMR apps like this.....Is looking up patient info and results of labs, orders or tests any different than looking up info on Facebook? In the same regard......Is ordering a CT scan or X-ray or labs any different than scheduling a ride when you are technically too drunk to drive? Not really. Good app, but entry level at best- and too be blunt, represents the underachievement that has become synonymous with the EClinicalWorks brand. I hope you have a better experience with this app than I did.. Dr. F
  • Loses documents

    By dr34994 (Pcmac user)

First let me say I have loved the app. I have found it very convenient to have access to all my records as long as I have my iPad. I am able to keep working even when out of the office. While the latest version still works well with telephone encounters, completing notes, billing from the hospital or surgery center there is one major problem. It keeps loosing documents when you review them. I first discovered this while on vacation. After reviewing a few hundred documents we discovered at least 1/3 were being lost and getting the dreaded “error occurred while downloading document or document not found”. First I was told they were working on a revision for 3.3. However 3.3.1 did not correct the problem. Next I was told to Uninstall and reinstall. This also did not work. I can handle crashes and restarting but losing documents is bad. We are on week #3 with no fix.
  • Still lousy

    By Dr. DH (Pcmac user)

Anyone considering this should know it will log you out multiple times a day for no good reason, slow down while you are seeing patients and loose some of your documents and say they are unreadable. Customer support will always try and close your tickets before they are even addressed, let alone fixed. Many functions do not work with the ipad version and you are told after buying the system “oh, that only works from the desktop”.
  • Still work to do

    By Zoniedoc (Pcmac user)

I have been an eClinicalWorks user for 5 years and the recent update to v.11e has added many features on the computer. I use this mobile version as a supplement but it is far from perfect. While trying to use some of the iPad features, it is still far from the touchscreen paradigm. I am still disappointed that they have not made changes to accommodate those of us who use the new iPads with face recognition, nor have they fixed the screen ratio problem with the new iPad Pro 11” model. (I use an older iPad Pro 12.9” model in the office and at home, but almost always have the new 2018 11” model with me and it’s annoying to have a portion of the screen truncated on both sides.) It would also be nice to have the option of portrait orientation which would make patient interviews much easier. [Update: version 3.1.4 adds face recognition but mine still crashes. Still haven’t fixed the screen ratio problem.] Overall, this is a handy supplement to the computer or C.O.W. (computer on wheels) option, but it’s not really ready to be used as a solo device.
