★ ★ ★ HomeSafe View Overview

What is HomeSafe View? HomeSafe View is an app that allows users to view live Swann DVR footage on their iPhone or iPad. It supports multi-channel viewing, playback of stored recordings, capturing video and still images, and remote control of PTZ cameras. The app is recommended for high-resolution playback and live viewing of more than 8 cameras at once. It is compatible with specific Swann DVR models and uses a data stream that connects to the DVR via 3G/4G or WiFi.

Software Features and Description

1. When using 3G/4G, the video from your DVR will likely be considered "downloads" by your phone service provider and will contribute to any download limit your phone data plan may have.

2. Consult with your mobile service provider regarding the use of a video streaming app and how it may affect your plan.

3. Note: Current model handsets and iPads are recommended for high resolution playback and live viewing more than 8 cameras at once.

4. Note: This app uses a data stream that will connect to your Swann DVR via 3G/4G or WiFi.

5. If you exceed any plan limits you may incur additional usage charges.

6. Other Swann DVR models will not work with this app.

  • FRUSTRATION

    By DDirtySth (Pcmac user)

I have made the mistake of getting this app before I did my research. Just got it because my Swans 1080HD PRO recommended it along with SWANS. However it takes a long time to open and most of the time I have to try multiple times before it opens. Doesn’t matter if on WIFI OR NETWORK. Also the images are extremely foggy and grainy. I have adjusted my SUB AND MAINSTREAM FPS, PICTURE QUALITY OF LIVE, RECORDING, and uploading all in attempt to get the app to work consistently. Not worth the trouble. But now for some reason I CANNOT GET ANY OTHER APP TO CONNECT WITH MY SYSTEM. It is hung up with this app and will not allow me to get another app. I am a fair person and with that said. The app is finally working properly. I have to say that everything that I was disappointed about, it’s all been resolved and for some odd reason it’s actually working. So overall I am pleased with the app. Had it been working as it is now I probably would give it a 4-5 thumbs up. But I cannot ignore the entire experience. I don’t know what exactly happened because I HAVE ABSOLUTELY DONE ANYTHING DIFFERENT. Everything that is required for this app to work is the same thing now as the moment I opened it, WIFI,DVR,DEVICES,CAMERAS and all the other things are all the same and unchanged. Nevertheless it’s working and I am satisfied. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
  • Almost perfect

Be wary of the bad reviews. I have read most of them. Most of the issues people are complaining about are because they have not set their preferences in the NVR itself. Eg: Only receiving push alerts from certain cameras or being able to give the camera its own name. The app is designed to receive and display the information that is sent from the NVR, not to control it. To all those giving bad reviews, I suggest you READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE NVR. That being said, I Love Swann products. This is my second system. Easy to set up and use and I have had nothing but great experiences when contacting customer support. Comes with everything you need to get up and running. the app app works great. I have 2 NVRs and can view live feeds from both of them at the same time. They have corrected the issue of the menu bar blocking some of the view. Love that. My only suggestion would be to allow the user to select a different tone for the push notifications. It uses the default iOS Tri-tone for text messages. I can’t always check my texts while working so having a different tone would make the push alert feature more effective for most people.
  • Hardware ok, but software needs lot of work

By Average J 82 (Pcmac user)

Just purchased this system. NVR8580. Mobile app leaves a lot to be desired. The single biggest issue I have with system (and the deal breaker) is how horribly awkward it is to review alerts I receive from push notifications. For example, I get a notification on phone for alert on “channel 3”. First, I don’t know where channel 3 is? Is that the garage or my front door. Can’t rename the things for mobile app. Not even on the windows software either. Next, you get notification, but still have no idea what the alert is from. So you have to scroll through, select a YEAR, date, then day, then which stream you want to view, then scroll through a timeline of colored lines until you find just the right time the alert was sent. All this just to see a clip of a stray dog in my driveway.😳 It’s impossible. Not user friendly whatsoever ever. Cant make any camera adjustments in the app. For example, adjust sensitivity or turn motion off. If I’m at work and kids are in back yard, notifications go off constantly. Would be nice to remotely turn off motion sensor without disabling all notifications. Just my thoughts.
  • Read reviews first

    By Chhetri rabi (Pcmac user)

I would have read the reviews first before buying this product. It's disconnected in my mobile device from months. When I try to seek help from customer support it takes me to community. Why should I talk to community. I wanna talk to customer support straight. If you don't have good customer support then mention it in the description straight forward. I'm really frustrated with this product. Honestly it was working faster then ring( apps) but wasn't recording all details like ring. Lots of incident that ring had captured is not on swann. Regardless, I was appreciating it's fast opening feature from mobile which isn't even working anymore. Nothing is displayed for hours and hours. I'm not at home this time. I don't have the way to get hold of customer service. Hopefully, I'm expecting to hear something about this review
