  • So far, so good. Wish it supported simple AppleScript.

    By ekrub (Pcmac user)

After a few days of use, it seems to work as advertised and properly mutes some apps that other PTT apps I’ve tried did not mute correctly. That’s good. The key missing feature is an easy way to turn it on/off. While PTT is great 80-90% of the time, it’s not uncommon to want to turn it off for a while in the midst of a call (e.g., while presenting) to free up your hands while still talking. Currently, you need to tap on the mic in the menu bar, tap on the mode selector, tap on "Always listening", and then tap on the mic in the menu bar to dismiss the dialog. And then repeat another four taps to re-enable it. That’s not good. At a minimum, it would benefit from an enable/disable button at the top of the dialog to toggle the app and dismiss the dialog in a single tap. Personally, I wish I could enable/disable the app using AppleScript, so I could use Alfred to toggle it on/off. Another small suggestion: As a user, I expected tapping anywhere outside the dialog or pressing escape would dismiss the dialog. Currently, the only way to dismiss the dialog is to tap again on the ~20x20 pixel menu bar item.
  • Best there is, but some issues.

    By thewellington (Pcmac user)

This app performms exactly as expected, providing me an easy keyboard shortcut to toggle on or off my microphone. Works well with Webex, Zoom, Skype, FaceTim, etc. I would like to see the ability to use customized hotkeys, instead of the combinations of modifiers that are currently available. Also, I notice that even though “Launch at Login” is checked, when I restart the computer the program does not launch (at least not viaibly). The Mic is effectively muted after login, until I launch the programa nd unmute it, so that seems like a better fail state than otherwise, though I have started a few Webexes with the program not yet running and been unable to be heard util I launched the program and unmuted myself. That is a bit confusing.
  • Does not mute display mic

    By Uuk (Pcmac user)

When I use the mic in my Display, it’s always on regardless of the app settings. The app only seems to be able to control the mic built in my laptop.
  • The new “shush” for me

    By martinisoft (Pcmac user)

Just upgraded my at home audio setup which includes an XLR mic with no physical mute switch. Initially wanted to go for Shush, but that was woefully out of date for my High Sierra Mac. Stumbled across this app and it fits the bill beautifully. Three things I’d like to see in the future of this app: - AppleScript Dictionary to allow automation via Alfred and Automator in case I don’t want to use hotkeys (and option to disable hotkeys if you go this route) - More flexibility with hotkeys to allow any key or keys to be bound to the toggle if you want to enable hotkeys - Menu toggle mode. This would allow you to click the mic icon at the top to mute/unmute instead of a hotkey or automation. You’d have to have the app show up on the dock to give you access to preferences if you enable this. Keep up the great work dev and please keep it up to date with the latest OSX releases.
