Good for common whiskies

Good for learning about and capturing notes for common whiskeys. Label scan works very well most of the time, and note taking/flavor profiling interface is excellent. However, it’s very difficult to update notes on whiskies in your collection if you have notes for more than a few whiskeys. You can filter your collection on empties, but for some bizarre reason not on active bottles. You also can’t search on just your active collection. You have to scroll through everything in alphabetical order. You can filter by standard whiskey categories, which can be marginally helpful. The biggest problem is that there is no way to manually enter a whiskey - you have to match an existing whiskey in a text search or scan a label and have the match fail before you can enter the new whiskey. And if you can’t connect to the server, you can’t enter a new whiskey at all. So nearly unusable for whiskey you may be tasting at restaurant, bar or tasting event where you don’t have access to the bottle, and completely unusable if no cellular or wifi service is available.

As it stands, the app is good, but on its way to greatness. You can scan and track your whiskeys and the library of whiskeys is pretty decent. Scanner works well. Tasting notes section is great with separate sections for nose, taste, finish, overall. Suggested description tags are a huge plus. The app is still a little glitchy and slow, and the library is yet to be complete. HOWEVER, improvements are continually being made and I am excited to see how this app becomes great.

What a great way to connect and share thoughts on an international basis. Love this app. Not only can I keep tabs on my own collection, but I can keep tabs on my friends’ as well. My second favorite thing about this app is the fact that I can rely on the opinions/ratings of other trusted tasters before making a purchase, which often times can add up $$$.

I'm very surprised to hear that everyone enjoys the app so much. As someone with several hundred bottles I attempted to enter several and rarely did the scan ever get the proper bottle. Unfortunately a manual search didn't locate them either. Maybe this is good for someone who doesn't have much of a collection, but I would think some of the simple ones I scanned would be in there and they weren't. I messaged their support and look forward to them having a solution at which point I'd be happy to give a more fitting rating.
