BeePlus Beekeeping Manager for Pc

I have been using the app for this entire season in my small home apiary of 3 hives. I use it very basically & haven't made use of the financial tracking, ability to add photos, or the QR Hive ID functions yet. I do use the Inventory & map features as well as the inspection & to do. Being able to see at a glance the main points of each inspection without having to open the specific inspection record is great. I also like being able to see (in inventory) which hives are using a piece of equipment. You can also see the equipment being used in a specific hive in the hive view, so there is no need to switch to another screen in order to see that. I had an instance where I was unsure how to use the app for a situation in my apiary, and contacted the developer. The response was quick, helpful, and specific to my question. It was a perfect solution. Overall very pleased with this app! The half star I left off is just for little things. For example, I would like to see an option in the To Do list for showing the item completed instead of only being able to delete it when it has been done. (maybe check box or line through & the number of to do items adjusted accordingly. Maybe the option to move it to the inspection record that it was completed during.) But I am sure it is much easier to want than it is for the dev to actually make it happen! :)

I only have three hives, so record keeping is quite simple as it is. Therefore, I do not use or need all of the features this app appears to offer. The app makes it simple and fun to record what I did, when I did it, and the condition of the hive. I especially like the photo adding features. Works well on an iPad. I would like to use the easy frame counting feature (how many have larva, capped, honey, pollen, etc.) while working the hive, but it’s too hard to use my iPad while holding frames. I skip that part and just record what remember after I’m done. Obviously a helper is necessary, but adding really large buttons for toggling the numbers up or down would help. Or, perhaps a way to make an audio recording which can later be transcribed into the log.

This app is very well thought out. The layout is superb and very user friendly. And the ToDo list talks with my calendar!! As a former HiveTracks user, this app leaves HiveTracks in the dust! My reports are more detailed and I like to see a picture of the hive right next to the inspection report. I like the notebook feature to keep track of bloom times and other incidentals (such as recording when I last checked my solar fence chargers, when I changed the batteries etc. ) the timeline feature is fantastic. I found I couldn’t search hivetracks by date which was a pain when needing to find data on a specific date to upload to the Bee Informed annual survey. One of the best features is the ease of combining hives (and data; which is lost in HiveTracks) and tracking queens and daughter queens. The only thing I would change is a ”sold” category in addition to the transfer or merge categories for the NUCs I sell. I like a record of which queen goes to which buyer. I got around this by creating a “sold apiary” and just transfer the hive to it. But that’s my only suggestion. I’m still giving this one 5 Stars. I really love using it!

Enjoying this app as a first year newbie, but I can see how it could really benefit commercial beekeepers with the scan tag features! Being able to create a unique identification for each hive and being able to walk up to a hive, scan it quickly and take pics and add info about particular hives is great idea! For me, as a first timer, I am creating more detailed notes and pics from my first year so next year I can look back and have some great information to refer to! Basically- I think the app can be useful to anyone who wants accurate notes about their hive(s)! Storing pics in a timeline to see how the hive evolved is also a neat feature!
