Pros:

- Accurate piano and guitar chords

- Option to change key and tempo

- Option to suppress melody

- Shows what keys to press, good for beginners

- Customizable individual notes/chords

- Recording and Bluetooth MIDI capabilities

Cons:

- Limited compatibility with songs from Apple Music library

- No option to playback only the chords of the whole song

- No output to Bluetooth speakers for playing along

- No Bb and Eb instrument notation transcription for horn players

Overall, the app is great for musicians, with accurate chords and customizable features. However, it has limited compatibility with songs from the Apple Music library and lacks some features such as output to Bluetooth speakers and Bb and Eb instrument notation transcription for horn players.

  • Excellent, but please and button for Bb and Eb instruments

By Beej Artistic Neophyte (Pcmac user)

I realize that it is geared to keyboards and guitars, but it would be nice if there was Bb and Eb instrument notation transcription for horn players. We need to practice playing over the changes, and if the chords shown were keyed to our instruments that would be greatly helpful. There is a transpose feature, but it actually transposes the audio, too, which is only helpful when you want to play in a different concert key. So I request a button that would change the notation for each instrument key. C, Bb, Eb, and why not throw F in there for the those horns, too:)
  • Works amazing... sometimes

    By Milezinator (Pcmac user)

When it allows you to use a song, it works great, does everything you would hope for in an app like this. The huge problem is that the app is only compatible with about one out of every twenty songs in my large iTunes collection. The vast majority of songs are greyed out and labeled “This data cannot be selected.” This includes the songs that I got this app for in the first place. I’m not sure why the compatibility rate is so low, but based on all the five star reviews, I would guess that not many people are having this problem for some reason. Therefore, even though it is useless to me, I give it three stars.
  • Really useful and impressive

    By deziful (Pcmac user)

I love the concept of this app and I would recommend this to musicians! Pros - piano and guitar chords are pretty much on point for the most part - option to change key and tempo - option to suppress melody (not that effective but all songs are recorded differently) - shows what keys to press/good for beginners - can customize individual notes/chords - recording, Bluetooth midi (haven’t tested it yet) Cons - can’t play most songs from my Apple Music library, but works on most songs/recordings I manually imported to iTunes from other sources (yt, personal audio recordings, etc) - I don’t really consider this one a con but the app would be 100x’s better if it included an option to playback only the chords of the whole song (like an instrumental version) Overall, it’s great and free!
  • Excellent app, but needs Bluetooth support

    By hlysprt7 (Pcmac user)

This app is so helpful. I can record a band rehearsal and import into the program and there is the the app chart! The one thing I see that it needs is output to bluetooth speakers for playing along. With any iPhone after 6, you need the dongle to play to speakers and that means you can’t set the device to read while playing. (I like the printout idea also) Lastly - thank you Yamaha for providing such a useful, accurate app!
