What is Bid Whist? The Bid Whist app is a digital version of the popular partnership trick-taking game. It is played with a standard 52 card deck plus 2 jokers, for a total of 54 cards. The game is played with 4 players consisting of two teams of two. The objective of the game is to reach a score of 7 or more points, or force the other team to go negative 7 or more points. Points are scored by bidding for and winning tricks, which are called books.

Game Features and Description

1. Downtown (or "low") means that you intend to name a trump suit, and that low cards will win.

2. Uptown (or "high") means you intend to name a trump suit, and that high cards will win.

3. The game starts with each team at zero, and the object of the game is to reach a score 7 or more points, or force the other team to go negative 7 or more points.

4. Points are scored by bidding for and winning tricks, which in this game are called books.

5. No Trump means that there will be no trump, and that if you win the bidding you will then determine whether high or low cards will have preference.

6. The number indicates the number of books above 6 that the bidder's team will contract to win - for example a bid of 5 is a promise to win at least 11 books (6 + 5).

7. Each bid consists of a number from 4 to 7, and a suffix "uptown", "downtown", or "no trump".

8. It is played with a standard 52 card deck plus 2 jokers, for a total of 54 cards.

10. The turn to bid goes around the table only once starting with the player to the left of the dealer.

Bid Whist - Classic functions

- Standard 52 card deck plus 2 jokers

- 4 players consisting of two teams of two

- Bidding system with numbers from 4 to 7 and suffixes "uptown", "downtown", or "no trump"

- Uptown and downtown bids indicate the intention to name a trump suit and whether high or low cards will win

- No trump bids mean there will be no trump and the bidder will determine whether high or low cards will have preference

- No Trump Bids will double your points (win or lose the bid)

- The game has potential to be great.

- The scoring system is somewhat functional.

- The deal seems unfair and rigged.

- The partner at the north seems to work against the player.

- The team member at the west seems to get the big joker too often.

- The game is aggravating and frustrating.

- The game seems to cheat.

- The bidding system is screwy.

- The programmer may not be a good player.

- The partner's moves seem ridiculous and illogical.

Whoever is the programmer can’t play. It’s so ridiculous I don’t know where to begin. I the app a Trump and my partner holds both jokers and I come out with a card at least 5 cards can beat. What does he do? He holds the joker and play a middle card and loose and consequently I’m set. Next my partner has more trumps than me. What does he do? He takes all of my trump and come out with a loser and I can’t cut and loose the game. Next I the app a no trump and my partner has the two aces I need. He wins the first then plays his other ace which I play that suit also. What does ho do next? He breaks a different suit which he has no winners. I went from a Boston to set! Also all computer players play all their aces first in a no trump and have no winners to continue. Next, a no trump is bidded every time unless the player has both jokers. It’s no way to tell but sometimes I think the computer manipulated the hands as the game progresses. There seems to be a pattern sometimes. Nevertheless, this is my favorite this app app. Not for the challenge just movement and preferences. Please, please, hire a programmer who has experience. Use a random number generator to deal the cards. I used to program. I could easily make this app earn an additional two stars. Lastly, I’ve lost my patience so many times. My dog can play better than my computer partner. I’ve had so many potential Bostons, just to be set.
Could be really Great!

Have we humans gotten smarter than a computer or just smarter than a computer programmer. It is frustrating to have your partner at the north working against you! And to have the team member at the west get the big joker 60% of the time. This could be a really Great game if it were fair with the deal and a partner up north that didn’t work against you.
Cheating

This is a very aggravating game. I hate it started to CHEAT because I Won too many games. I have uninstalled several times. It reverts back the same cue I was in. I don’t understand why the cheating !!!
No Trump

I think this game is good but rigged. Every time I get two jokers I’m out the app with a no trump. The scoring is a bit screwy but all in all it’s an ok game.
