Top Pcmac Reviews

  • Frustrating and fun

    By Johnm.95 (Pcmac user)

All in all this is a fun game, but I'm rating it 3 stars because it isn't worth the money. It's a platformer with some puzzle elements. The characterization and story line are fun but spread too thin. The main thing is that I never turn the game off satisfied. Only frustrated. Some of the levels have difficult sections which would be fine except that the game has this nasty habit of making unforgivably hard platforming sections to get through repeat five or six times. If that wasn't bad enough, it mocks you by making it so that if you get through 5/6 platforms, and mess up on the sixth you have to start over. It gets particularly nasty when gravity puzzles are implemented. Also the controls could have handled better. Many puzzles require you put one character stand on the edge of a ledge, then change characters, but most of the time the game interprets an attempt to change characters as an attempt to walk off said ledge and start over. I've quit more times because of this than anything. Finally, there is a character who can double jump, except the game has a really we did idea of when it is/isn't appropriate to do so. So sometimes you'll make leaps of faith onto platforms only to find that the game decided you didn't deserve a double jump that time, so you fall to your death. In summary, there is a fine line between challenging and frustrating.
  • Best Game I've Played on an iPhone

    By Jacob5377 (Pcmac user)

This game was amazing and definitely deserves its five star rating. The game's mechanics are similar to other basic platformers, but makes the levels fun and intriguing because of the different abilities of the rectangles. This makes the gameplay richer. And of course I must not forget the story. When I bought this game and saw its glowing reviews I was pretty skeptical of whether the plot would be that good. I was very pleasantly surprised! I became so attached to the characters, I found myself routing them on at points at grieving them others. The narration really makes the rectangles come alive and the story is quite deep and emotional. And finally the soundtrack is better than any game I've played on iPhone and really set the stage during the sad parts. The only complaint I have was the ending was a bit abrupt, but the rest of the story makes up for it. There is also an additional few missions that is basically a prequel and gives the background of one of the characters. I'd love to see more additional missions with back stories of the other characters! Over all it's a great game and highly recommend it!
  • Absolutely Stunning

    By HP SUPERFAN (Pcmac user)

A truly stunning game. The writing is positively perfect, and the narrator executes the script with exquisite taste. Playing the first few levels, my smile grew from ear to ear after hearing the witty banter from these strange little blocks. The characters are so fleshed out, so well written, for, well... blocks! They portray these very human-like emotions that actually moved me to tears. And the music, oh the music. Don't even get me started, because it's some of the best I've heard. The soundtrack provides this astonishing aesthetic for the game that I simply cannot put into words. Art direction in this game is simply phenomenal; the contrast between the background and the characters is truly incredible. An award-winning app, it provides a beautiful, heartwarming story, as well as some amazing humor. This is more than just a game, it's an experience. This game provides a powerfully moving, beautiful, undertone, which, in the end actually brought tears to my eyes. Gorgeously created, I would recommend all to play this game.
  • Decent but doesn't live up to the hype.

    By 8BZ (Pcmac user)

I wanted to love this game. And I was certain I would based on the reviews. But sadly, it just didn't do it for me. I hate to say it, but boredom and frustration are two words that I would use to describe this game. None of the puzzles are even close to being hard to solve. But it seems the creators make up for that fact by making the solutions time consuming. If moving blocks around again and again and again, back and forth and back and forth, sounds like a great time, then this game is probably for you. If not, you'll probably end up bored, frustrated and disappointed. There are also aggravatingly difficult platformer elements interspersed throughout the game. Which might seem like it would be a great break from the monotony but somehow made the whole experience even more frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate this game. But I can't fathom how it has such stellar reviews. It's unique, well crafted and has a fun story. And the use and combinations of different types of block to solve puzzles is a great idea. But the gameplay itself leaves a lot to be desired. I found myself finishing the game just so I could get it over with and move on.
