  • Look elsewhere!

    By bexn01 (Pcmac user)

This is nothing more than a bunch of YouTube videos, not a cohesive course. Many of the videos have been blocked from being watched inside the app, probably because they didn’t get permission to use them. I also noticed that they used some of Lifeprint’s videos. Bill Vicars, PhD put a lot of work into Lifeprint. You would be better off using Dr. Bill's site (free!) instead of giving money to GR8 Media. As I said in another review for another ASL app, the chances that you’ll be able to learn ASL from this app are slim. Apps aren’t the best way to learn ASL anyway. If you really want to learn ASL, please look for classes at your local community college, university, library, church, Deaf club/organization, etc. Also look for Sign Language Meetups in your area. If you’re unable to find a local class then look online. There are free courses available at places such as Lifeprint/ASLU, SignLanguage101, HandSpeak, Start-the app-Sign-Language, etc. Gallaudet University also offers online courses for credit (these aren’t free but worth taking for serious students). I’m surprised and disappointed that Apple allows these appa in their store. They’re careful about checking code but apparently don’t bother to look at who owns the video rights to the videos being displayed. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere to learn ASL. I wish I could get my money back.
