What is Coptic Reader?

Coptic Reader is a mobile application that contains the complete liturgical text, rites, psalmodies, hymns, melodies, services, and sacraments of the Coptic Orthodox Church. The app dynamically creates each document/service according to the rites of the current day or selected day/feast. Coptic Reader supports English, Arabic, and Coptic languages and is fully customizable. It also allows you to control which saint or archangel commemorations will be shown in doxologies, hymns, responses, and other prayers for your church's intercessors.

1. Coptic Reader is a mobile application that contains the liturgical text, rites, psalmodies, hymns, melodies, services, and sacraments of the Coptic Orthodox Church.

2. Coptic Reader builds each document on the fly with all appropriate hymns, rites and instructions to take the guess work out of the order of a church service.

3. Coptic Reader is fully customizable and allows you to show/hide different liturgical roles (i.e., Priest, Deacon, and Congregation), inaudible prayers, rubrics/comments, and languages.

4. Coptic Reader is not simply a text reader but rather it dynamically creates each document/service according to the rites of the current day, or selected day/feast.

5. Coptic Reader can generate documents in a combination of English, Arabic, and Coptic and supports both English and Arabic as the application interface language.

- Bible portion of the app could be improved by allowing users to highlight favorite verses, bookmark where they stopped reading, and keep a log of their readings

- Translation used in liturgies, Pascha, etc. can be confusing and not always correct, with examples such as the use of the word "unicorns" in the Psalm of the ninth hour of Tuesday eve of the Pascha.

Great app!Very practical and easy to use. Love the layout of the categories and the easy access to the contents. Even if you’re using one of the contents you still can easily access the home page by swiping the screen from the left. Swiping the screen from the right will give access to more contents within the category you’re in. I just hope they might consider using the Septuagint translation for the Old Testament. Because it’s definitely more authentic and precise than other translations.

It is easy to navigate. Very complete app. It is amazing to have all church’s prayers book in one app. I use it daily at home. I use it at church often, for example during Pascha week, I didn’t have to carry my big traditional Pascha book. It is a must to have for every Copt. You can easily access your agpeya and your bible (without the need for internet connection) during your breaks, during using public transportation or during anytime you’re waiting in line or for something else.

I absolutely love this app and it is the only one I use. But for the Bible I wish I could highlight my favorite verses. I wish I could book mark where I stopped reading. I wish I could keep log of my readings. It is done in other apps that I’m not in favor of but this one being my favorite I’m hoping this can be done. Thanks to all who work on it. God bless your service.
Please, please, please, change the Bible translation to NKJV

This is a good app that brings together so many of the services of the church in one place. It could be improved A LOT if the translation of the Bible is NKJV not just for the Bible portion of the app but also for the readings in the liturgies, Pascha, etc. The translation used is often confusing and the words are often not the correct translation. Prime example is this reading from the Psalm of the ninth hour of Tuesday eve of the Pascha, which reads: Save me from the lion’s mouth, my humiliation from the horns of the unicorns. Unicorns???
