Software Features and Description

1. After connecting your keyboards and other MIDI devices to the iPad, you can easily create split zones and assign sounds of your MIDI devices to them.

2. While this can be done relatively easy on professional keyboards, it becomes more complex if your gear consists of multiple keyboards and sound expanders.

3. iMIDIPatchbay lets you organize your whole MIDI setup from one central point.

4. You need a CoreMIDI interface to connect your keyboards and sound expanders to the iPad.

5. It's also possible to route the MIDI data to other apps if they have a virtual MIDI port.

6. Furthermore, you can filter out controllers which is great if you want e.g. pitch bend or sustain to affect only a subset of the active sounds.

7. If you encounter problems, please let me help you (you find the mail address on the website and on the info screen within the app).

8. Go to iMIDIPatchbay's website in order to find a more detailed description of the app.

9. As a keyboard player, you most probably know about splitting and layering sounds.

10. iMIDIPatchbay makes building such configurations a lot easier than it has ever been before.

11. Please note that there is no way to respond to you if you post a review on the App Store instead.

Top Pcmac Reviews

  • Must have for live performance

    By Gabenstein (Pcmac user)

Great app for gigs, especially for a multi keyboardist. Very useful. Also highly recommend for the add-on setlist feature, which has been super. As I scroll through a set, If i attached notes/chart for that song I can see it on my iPad, then simply swipe when it’s over, which I’m onto the next song (which changes all my patches across my rig). I play in several projects, so not having to manually change (or memorize patches) has been great. Note: I did previously encounter an issue with the app, but the developer was very helpful on a work around and eventually resolve entirely. I did not realize how much I depended on it when I initially ran into issues. All good now, so very pleased.
  • Review revised

    By Malpaugh (Pcmac user)

I have to revise my earlier review: I lost the ability to retrieve my earlier work after the update and I wrote a harsh review. I contacted the developer. He responded immediately and he went about rectifying the problem. Within 48 hours the correction was made. In truth, this app was the only app that made it possible for for my Roland Juno DS to communicate with my Nord Electro. This is app has been a lifesaver. Thank you Johannes!
  • Workaround for iOS 12 issue

By The Virtual Keyboardist (Pcmac user)

This app is amazing and is the workhouse for my live performances - excellent product and a great developer. To help other users, I have a workaround for an issue that started only with iOS 12. If I go from a chart to the main programming page and back to a chart, I get a cpu overload that causes popping while scrolling up and down. This never occurred until iOS 12 and I’m sure Johannes, the developer will fix it quickly like he always does. There is a simple workaround if you have this issue. When you go back to a chart and experience this popping and noise issue when scrolling, simply press Setlists. Then select the same set list you are in and it will take you right back to your chart, but this time there will be no more issues. You will need to do this every time you make changes to programming and go back to the charts. Hope this helps - please read below regarding how I review this excellent app. I love this app and it forms the core of my multi soft-synth live performance rig. This app is has become vital to my work as a professional keyboardist. It is THE solution for the modern keyboardist who doesn't want a laptop on stage. I'm very happy with this app. I have been looking for a single iPad based patchbay to allow me to control multiple keyboard patches on the fly - while still having charts open. Though I typically memorize music, having the charts link to the various keyboards is a very helpful feature for newer songs or just to help a lead vocalist who might forget a section (it happens to the best and it's nice to have someone in the band assist). The app offers so much more; however, and I have added more patches to my songs where I was previously limited by the keyboard splits. I use it to perform With 8 synthesizers live - 2 hardware and 6 soft. Terrific product! I also love the ability to use my existing Yamaha Performances in the app as all custom parameters remain as programmed when used through this app. For beginners, there aren't enough clear step by step directions. The tutorial videos are good, but not as detailed as a beginner would need. Here's a tip: if your keyboards have USB to Host MIDI outputs, you can simply connect multiple keyboards directly into your iPad by using a multi-USB adapter and the Apple Lightning to USB Camera adapter. this app is a great product.
  • Works great, better than hardware!

    By NordenBombSite (Pcmac user)

I use this app to route USB midi keyboard to 5-pin DIN midi synth(s). It works where my hardware USB midi host fails. Please update this app for future iOS releases. I really like this as a standalone solution, instead of the Audiobus-MidiFlow solution (awesome stuff there, too, but more involved). Thx.
