Software Features and Description

1. Are you a Pro Musician who wants the best MIDI playing surface or a music newcomer who wants to play melodies more intuitively? Musix Pro packs more notes on the screen than any other app and does so with customizable layouts that bake music theory in.

2. Musix Pro arranges notes based on their harmonic and musical relationships instead, allowing shapes and patterns to emerge that unlock the mathematical beauty of music.

3. Musix Pro is key agnostic, which means is that once you have learned a musical pattern (like a chord or a scale) that pattern is the same for all keys, even the dreaded A-Flat! Sharps and flats appear in the right place automatically, through the mathematical magic of isomorphism.

4. Unlike other music apps, Musix Pro provides a wide range of octaves, scales, keys, chords and modes, without limiting your creativity.

5. You can learn to play melodies on a traditional keyboard by playing them on Musix Pro and watching where the sharps and flats go.

6. Traditional musical instruments are difficult to learn because notes are arranged based on physical constraints.

7. Musix Pro allows you to change the colour of the notes in your layout.

8. You can colour the notes white and black like a piano; you can colour the notes of any scale or mode (like D-flat mixolidian) and you can colour notes based on tone centre.

9. With multiple built-in instruments and support for OSC and Core/Virtual Midi, most existing synthesizers work beautifully with Musix Pro as a controller.

10. Keys can be resized to fit your style - start with "epic"-sized keys, and as you get better you can shrink the keys fill the screen with notes.

11. "Anyone who loves music, regardless of skill level, owes it to themselves to experience Musix.

Top Pcmac Reviews

  • Essential for Linnstrument Owners

    By M.A. PDX (Pcmac user)

This fantastic app is the reason I got an iPad Pro and might be one of the most impactful musical tools I've encountered in my life. As an owner of a Linnstrument, I wanted to have as much practice time as possible on an isomorphic grid, but the Linnstrument can't go everywhere I go. This app *greatly* accelerated my skills playing on a grid and has transformed my understanding of music theory. As I spend more time with it I realize how much of a window into isomorphic or hexagonal layouts it is -- anyone else using this app: Do yourself a favor while you're learning, and switch between 1) layouts, 2) scales, 3) button sizes, and 3) labellings every now and then, even if you're working towards other goals. Doing this really opens up the possibilities but also constantly keeps you at the "edge" of where your learning is at, which helps you get better faster. Going back to a Linnstrument after playing on this app is an amusing sensation, as playing on a glass surfaced iPad requires a lot more mental agility so when you return to the Linnstrument you feel like an ultra-precise master. Great app :)
  • The Innovation string players have been waiting for.

    By nrainbuddy (Pcmac user)

The boards are laid out in a way that makes them fun and surprisingly ez to play. It just all seems to click together really well to make an outstanding instrument. I far prefer this to traditional linear keyboards. I know I’m not the only string player who understands the concept of a linear keyboard but doesn’t enjoy rocking one because something doesn’t mesh. Personally I think in terms of circles musically and this app gives me the extra dimensional aspect to provide me with circles to look at. This app makes my iPad feel less like a sequencer and more like a traditional instrument. It’s I pretty neat controller that way, but the real power behind this app is that it is literally a sort of archetype or template for every song you could ever want to write. This is hands down the writers most powerful tool, even if you’re a writer that has your theory memorized or well understood there is certainly going to be an idea that this app can help you inspire to write. This isn’t the one to be cheap about 10 bucks on. This app is very innovative and should be funded along to enrich our musical / technical foundation in this growing industry/ hobby market. If you mad it doesn’t have its own sounds, don’t be, this isn’t that sort of design. Sounds are dime a dozen. This is a whole new keyboard concept where your finger shape positioning never needs to change to create new chords, this makes arpeggiating and chord progression a cake walk to navigate thru manually even at faster tempos rt on your iPad screen. It’s awesome ¡ These devs are fast at responding if you need even the stupidest help like I did too. I’m really excited about this app and that’s why I’m giving the best review I can. Im hoping to see continued development over the course of my lifetime on this one... DONT OUTDATE MY KEYBOARD PLZ !!!!!!!
  • False advertising

    By WooooodddddooWonderful (Pcmac user)

All features work great but in the iPhone version midi out to daw is not supported. There is no mention of this in the description. Only reason I bought it. A very expensive app for limited functionality merits 2 stars in my book. I suggest thumbjam if you're looking for a midi controller with scales
  • Superb!

    By Gitarzz (Pcmac user)

I find myself becoming stale in my playing every once in a while and when this happens I look for ways to change things up. This app does it for me. I simply select what pattern I want the notes to appear on the screen and once I learn how the notes to ascend and descend, I can start noodling around. Another reviewer mentioned the lack of velocity control being sent to other apps. I agree that this would be an important feature, but I'm still very impressed with this app. It's too bad that the iPad doesn't have a larger screen. Making the votes larger and still have a lot of notes on the screen would make this an even better app. Unfortunately, app developers really have no control over the hardware they're developing for. This app gets my thumbs up vote.
