How to download and install GoPro (formerly Capture) on your Laptop or Desktop computer

4.5 Rating: 4.5 - 82,349 votes

If you want to install and use the GoPro (formerly Capture) app on your PC or Mac, you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We have worked diligently to help you understand how to use GoPro (formerly Capture) for your computer in 4 simple steps below:

Step 1: Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac

Ok. First things first. If you want to use the application on your computer, first visit the Mac store or Windows AppStore and search for either the Bluestacks app or the Nox App . Most of the tutorials on the web recommends the Bluestacks app and I might be tempted to recommend it too, because you are more likely to easily find solutions online if you have trouble using the Bluestacks application on your computer. You can download the Bluestacks Pc or Mac software here

Step 2: Install the emulator on your PC or Mac

Now that you have downloaded the emulator of your choice, go to the Downloads folder on your computer to locate the emulator or Bluestacks application.
Once you have found it, click it to install the application or exe on your PC or Mac computer.
Now click Next to accept the license agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application properly.
If you do the above correctly, the Emulator app will be successfully installed.

Step 3: GoPro (formerly Capture) for PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and look for its search bar. Once you found it, type GoPro (formerly Capture) in the search bar and press Search. Click on GoPro (formerly Capture) application icon. A window of GoPro (formerly Capture) on the Play Store or the app store will open and it will display the Store in your emulator application. Now, press the Install button and like on an iPhone or Android device, your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.
You will see an icon called "All Apps".
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed applications.
You should see the GoPro (formerly Capture) icon. Click on it and start using the application.

Step 4: GoPro (formerly Capture) for Mac OS

Hi. Mac user!
The steps to use GoPro (formerly Capture) for Mac are exactly like the ones for Windows OS above. All you need to do is install the Nox Application Emulator or Bluestack on your Macintosh. The links are provided in step one

Takes forever to prepare a video cut. Takes 5 minutes to cut a 15 second clip. I can’t get anything longer than 15 seconds to even finish.

This app is pretty good but has many flaws. It takes wayyyy too long to download media(maybe I’m just new to cameras), the clip took is screwed up so I can’t adjust the size of my clip. Over all it’s useful definitely but not the greatest.

  • Decent app, needs fixes

I do not like having to sign in every time I want to use the app. The app needs to be more user friendly and easier to navigate. Maybe add a link in the app that will take you to the website (purchase accessories, cameras, etc)
  • Be careful

I paid for their upgraded service to protect my images on brand new Hero6. I spent 3 weeks in Iceland and Northern Europe. I uploaded 3 times on the road and a final when I got home. The next day all but three of my photos were just gone. Their “experts” took a week to tell me they had no idea what happened to my photos. This is a paid service to put photos in the cloud where they are protected. They email to tell me they could not be found started out with I hope you’re having a great day! No, no I’m not having a great day! I emailed one more time asking what they were going to do for me ; like a free account for a year ? Anything ? Nothing back. Ever. So much for Customer Service on GoPro Plus ...
  • Still worthless

Maybe once they finally go bankrupt someone with half a brain will take over the company and I won’t have to pointlessly log into an app that has no need to require its users to create an account.

I tried watching a video from the app. It was a 24 second video it took more than 30minutes to load 7 seconds of the video. Super slow!!! And very frustrating
