If you want to install and use the GoPro (formerly Capture) app on your PC or Mac, you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We have worked diligently to help you understand how to use GoPro (formerly Capture) for your computer in 4 simple steps below:

Step 1: Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac

Ok. First things first. If you want to use the application on your computer, first visit the Mac store or Windows AppStore and search for either the Bluestacks app or the Nox App . Most of the tutorials on the web recommends the Bluestacks app and I might be tempted to recommend it too, because you are more likely to easily find solutions online if you have trouble using the Bluestacks application on your computer. You can download the Bluestacks Pc or Mac software here

Step 2: Install the emulator on your PC or Mac

Now that you have downloaded the emulator of your choice, go to the Downloads folder on your computer to locate the emulator or Bluestacks application.
Once you have found it, click it to install the application or exe on your PC or Mac computer.
Now click Next to accept the license agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application properly.
If you do the above correctly, the Emulator app will be successfully installed.

Step 3: GoPro (formerly Capture) for PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and look for its search bar. Once you found it, type GoPro (formerly Capture) in the search bar and press Search. Click on GoPro (formerly Capture) application icon. A window of GoPro (formerly Capture) on the Play Store or the app store will open and it will display the Store in your emulator application. Now, press the Install button and like on an iPhone or Android device, your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.
You will see an icon called "All Apps".
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed applications.
You should see the GoPro (formerly Capture) icon. Click on it and start using the application.

Step 4: GoPro (formerly Capture) for Mac OS

Hi. Mac user!
The steps to use GoPro (formerly Capture) for Mac are exactly like the ones for Windows OS above. All you need to do is install the Nox Application Emulator or Bluestack on your Macintosh. The links are provided in step one

  • Very frustrating app

While their kiosks want to show off that GoPro’s products are ideal for adventurous people in remote locations, their software reveals that their real market is people who want to take selfies and post them immediately to every social media outlet in the world. This software’s focus on “Sharing” is maddening. Be sure not to click on the “Quick” icon or you’ll be trapped in a “Get GoPro Quick” page – you have to force quit and re-launch to get back to the app. Basic interface features such as easy and quick navigation between shooting and post-production are missing, and the software’s lack of correct rotation on my iPad is maddening. On the one hand, this app is just poorly designed, on the other hand, the screwed up orientation just makes it seem like it’s still in beta. The Fusion camera I’m using is great, and when I can finally managed to get output from the app and saved to my LOCAL device – I’m not interested in Sharing, GoPro! – I’m really pleased with the results. Stop trying to appeal to idiot, selfie-driven teenagers and add options to let us users who are serious about real post-production more quickly get to our tools. Oh! And when you export an image from the app all location and time metadata is stripped out! Really? In this day and age??

All I wanted to do was make a cool movie out of some short GoPro clips from vacation . There are barely any instructions at all. I’ve been messing with this for hours and still can’t figure it out . I can’t understand a few things. If I take a 2 min video and go back to watch it in the app and then out of that 2 mins I cut a clip out that’s 15 secs long why does that clip not save to the app so I can delete the 2 minute one. What’s the point of having the ability to cut and highlight clips and where do they save ??? It makes no sense to me that if I take a long video and go back to watch it and decide that I only want a minute of it that it doesn’t save anywhere . Then I tried quick and I can’t get my GoPro videos go transfer over . When I go into it and scroll down to GoPro it’s only showing 2 videos . I bought the GoPro so I could take cool clips when I’m away or fishing and make a movie out of them. Sorry , but if the 1 video that did transfer over Quik took like 10 seconds of it and made a movie if you can call it that. So far , it’s really aggravating.
  • Big issue

So I used to use my Go Pro Hero 4 session on this app and it worked great. I tried to use it yesterday and also today and still am unable to connect my Go Pro to the application. I have “ “forgotten” the WiFi network from the Go Pro and then tried to connect again. That didn’t work. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Nothing has worked. I keep getting stuck on the screen that tells me that I need to go connect the WiFi in my phone settings. So I do that and make sure it’s connected. Go back to the Go Pro app and a pop up comes up saying, “Oops, that didn’t work. There was a problem; try reconnecting to your camera’s WiFi in your iPhone’s settings.” And I am given the options “Get Support” or “Got it!” I have tried both options. Can’t find any new support on it... I have already followed all of the steps listed. Multiple times. My iPhone is also up to date and I have an iPhone 8 Plus. I really hope this gets fixed soon or else I don’t know what to do with my Go Pro.
  • Missing features for fusion

    4
    By Mickie MANG
I bought the fusion on 3/12 and have been loving it. I hated how long it took to render videos on my computer then found out I could do them on my phone or iPad. It’s been way easier and faster using the app. After using it I realized it’s missing 2 key features that’s needed for the app and another one that would be nice to have. 1: joystick for editing. When I edit with my fingers by sliding the video it causes 2 huge issues. Knocks the video off it’s level, then I have to twist it back, and panning isn’t smooth. Using my phones accelerometer isn’t always ideal. Sometimes I can’t stand or spin to get the whole 360 degrees of video. If I want to edit on a plane or on the train, or anywhere in public, I can’t. 2: Add a panning feature for photos. Having a 360 camera is great, and there are times I want to show the whole 360 pic without making a tiny planet. In order for me to do this, I have to open the image, press screen recording, go back to the app, and spin in a circle. Once again a joystick would be nice since the pan is wobbly. 3: Split pic for selfies. There are cameras on both sides of the fusion, this allows me to catch both the action and my reaction. It would be nice if there was a way to export 2 views in 1 pic/video without having to create 2 exports and putting them together using another app.

  • Right side up or upside down?

Sometimes my GoPro records inverted when diving into the water from the surface. Not sure why or how to fix.
  • Telemetry stickers are awesome

I am not sure why GoPro doesn't market the Telemetry sticker feature, but it is seriously awesome. Turn on GPS on your camera and easily add speed g.forces and map sticker. It's sick.
  • Naming issue

This software was called GoPro long before it was called Capture. Please remove the notation that it was formerly called Capture it is irritating to see that appear all the time. If you are updating the software, update the name.
  • Does not download media to phone when app runs in background

When the apps runs in the background and downloads media from gopro to phone, the status runs through to the end and then says ‘download cancelled’. Very frustrating.
  • Needs improvement

-Scrolling through local photos and videos is laggy where there are a lot. -There’s not really a lot of editing tools for photos within the app. -Some of the tools to do edits on videos are confusing to figure out how to use.

Well we LOVE our new GoPro Hero 5 Black. We Love our GoPro Karma, too. But this GoPro app just blew my mind! I see many sleepless nights ahead playing with all this awesome app has to offer. Quick editing. Pulling Still pictures from videos! Instant upload to social media or email or even download to our mobile device. Very happy thus far! Our Crazy Ventures, are going to shared much more easily now! Thank you, GoPro! We love you!
  • Horrible app

    1
    By Anneliese123
Very frustrating to use. It’ll show that your media is loading, and it’ll keep loading for up to an hour and then stop before anything actually uploads. I’ve deleted and re-installed the app and still haven’t been able to upload any pictures or videos to my phone using the app. Absolutely outrageous and ridiculous.

It takes freaking long to download photos and videos to phone!
  • GOPRO FIX THIS; Videos won’t download

    2
    By The Man5 1/2
When I go to download the videos I recorded onto my phone using the app, it takes forever to download specific videos, and then when it gets to the end of the download, it says “converting your files to your quik story” and it sits there for a long time... one time I tried letting it sit for an hour and a half... it gets stuck. So I quit the download and open the app back up, and most of the videos I tried to download are not on the app. So I try to download them again, but when I pull down it goes straight to the “converting your files to your quik story” again. It won’t stop.. again, so I quit the app... again... the only way to get this to fix and download videos again, is if I delete the videos that never got downloaded. So my great shots I took have to be completely removed and never gotten to be seen because the APP WON’T WORK. This needs to be fixed.
