★ ★ ★ Alert Commander Overview

What is Alert Commander? The Logitech Alert Video Security System is a Mac app that allows users to monitor and protect their homes or businesses. It provides valuable features such as motion detection, live and recorded video viewing, motion alerts, and digital pan-tilt-zoom. The app also allows users to manage up to 6 cameras, set up motion zones, and receive desktop notifications of important events. Additionally, the app provides free web and mobile viewing options.

Software Features and Description

1. Both live and playback screens can display your choice of viewing modes—single camera view, four-camera view, and all cameras view.

2. Install and configure your video security system, watch live video, store video on your computer and review recorded video.

3. Want to watch what’s happening right now? Live view lets you watch all of your cameras at the same time.

4. Need to see what happened in the past? Playback view lets you access and play previously recorded video clips.

5. NOTE: Alert Commander only supports Logitech Alert cameras, not WiLife cameras.

6. And since your cameras record only motion-triggered events by default, you can store months of audio and video.

7. Easily monitor and protect what matters most with the Logitech Alert™ Video Security System with an app designed specifically for your Mac.

8. With Commander software installed, all the video on your cameras is backed up to your Mac when it is connected to your network.

9. However, please do not leave feedback if you do not have Logitech Alert cameras.

10. Log in to our secure site and watch live camera feeds from an Internet-connected computer, anywhere in the world.

11. It’s as simple as visiting alert.logitech.com, and logging in with your account credentials.

  • Finally Here

    By JayMM1 (Pcmac user)

Feels like we've waited a decade for this, but anyway it's here and it seems well written. As a 1.0 version, it's five stars and I'm sure they'll fix the sore spots. You can't close the window without quitting the app which is silly. Also, every time you run it, you have to answer a silly question about which site you want to manage which since they know there is only 1 site is completely superfluous and interrupts the flow of launching the app. Since 99% of the time, you're running it in order to monitor the cameras or even at startup, that's not appropriate. Regardless, those are in the end fairly minor for an app that looks solid and doesn't seem to leave out any significant features from the Windows side.
  • Am I the only one missing sound?

    By Michill00 (Pcmac user)

Been waiting for this since I switched to Mac earlier this summer. So far it does everything that it did on my PC except play sound. There is no sound in live view or in my recordings. When I go to the website, I get sound in both the live view and recordings. When the App launches, sound is defaulted to the lowest setting, but there is still nothing once I slide the bar all the way up. Other than that, I love having this ability on my Mac, finally. ****Update**** Didnt realize I had to click on the live video feed of my only one and only camera to get the sound. Something I didnt have to do when I used the PC version. Got sound, given 5 stars now!
  • Great App BUT…..

    By sklink (Pcmac user)

It really needs to remember the window layout when you close it so that you dont have to rearrange the window size, location, and the layout of the cameras every time that you open the app. This is annoying for me esspecially because I like to have the cameras on an external monitor, but every time I have to reopen the app or restart the computer, I have to move it over to the other monitor, resize the window, and change it to the camera view mode I want. Almost every other app for mac remembers the window layout. It is a very easy thing to implement. :)
  • Overall Pleased

    By Rgxyzzy (Pcmac user)

I am using this on an old iMac to monitor 2 exterior cameras. The iMac runs 24x7 to ensure videos are transferred from the camera up into the Cloud in near real-time. Set up was easy and the features seem to work as advertised with limited "quirkiness". Compared to a lot of the options out there these seem quite solid. The only issue I've seen so far is a few times the tranfer of videos from the cameras to the iMac has stopped with no error message. Quiting the app and re-opening it works fine and the iMac catches up with the videos stored in the cameras. I'm deducting a star over this issue. It isn't constant but does require me to check the status periodically.
