Solution to tHe map app always crashing! First, you have to have the the app board on and the kid must be playing around on it or it shuts off too early. Second, if you have any restrictions set on your phone then the app will crash immediately. You MUST have the camera turned on. I kept lots of restrictions on my phone for when my kids 4 and 5 used it. Then when I turned these off temporarily the app worked perfectly fine. So, no restrictions for the camera. Third, on a side note, if the pen keeps falling out you can buy an adapter that makes the pen longer and less likely to pull out. Though why they had to make it remove able in the first place is a serious design flaw. Finally, though I as an adult wanted my kids to learn something, they all found the overall experience a bit boring. So this whole thing does catch quite a bit of shelf time with no one playing it.

My daughter received the itike map toy as a bday gift spcifically so she could use it with her ipad (as advertised). However the app doesn't work on her 1st gen ipad which runs ios 5.1.1. And according to the app description it should work. It loads then, crashes every time. Big disappointment!!!!! It does run on my iphone 4 and 2nd gen ipad but i dont allow my dtr play with them (too expensive to replace if broken). The app takes a long time to install because its a large file. The instructions on how to use the app is a little unclear and confusing. When you activate the feature to work with the toy, the app turns on the camera and says put the circle on something you want to lean more about. There is no circle. You tap on stuff with the pen, and the toy starts talking and then it pops up more facts on the iphone but the first thing that pops up does not work (the verbal fact is not spoken just a picture appears) unless you swipe to the next page and back. I haven't used the app on my phone extensively but it just seems buggy from the one time i used it. Please fix the app or update the description on the app and toy. I find it very miss leading and deceitful to sell a toy that doesn't work on devices as advertised.

I am a nanny for a 3 year old girl and I bought this for her as an educational gift. After reading the reviews, I was nervous it was a waste...but so far it has been working great! It is fine on its own, but it easily pairs up to my iPhone 4 and that makes it much more informative and interactive. It makes learning fun for her. It seems that (at least for me) the app worked through its issues.

I finally got it work After deleting and reinstalling it 3 times and following the advice of other reviews. You have to push the link up icon then start pushing pictures on the map. It simply would not work the first 2 times I installed it even when I touched the pictures. It took me 2 hours to get it uninstalled and reinstalled and working properly which was very frustrating. Now that it works I see a lot of potential for this toy.
