What is Guitar Theory System?

The app is a music theory system designed by Larry Samson, which is different from any other system being taught today. It corrects the mathematical flaw in music by using 1 name for 1 note, making the application to the guitar (and all instruments) mathematically correct. The app teaches how to find and name every note on each string.

  • Good but not much to it

Good set of 3 "games" to practice patterns for identifying on which fret notes are located. In hindsight, the name includes note finder which is a great description. I, however, focused on this app and anticipated more. Such a limited tool it isn't worth the $2.99 in my opinion. The pattern is pretty easy to master without the app. Though, the app can help those who struggle to see and/or memorize the pattern.
  • A little explanation would help

    By TaylorPlayer (Pcmac user)

There is no real explanation of the "system" within the app or on the website. The help screens are not very helpful. Please add an introductory screen or expand the help screens or something. What's the reasoning behind the system. What does it do to make playing and learning easier?

  • learn guitar easy and fun!!

    By CreepyCreep78 (Pcmac user)

I've been learning the app from Larry for a while. I must say his theory is easy and understandable, because his theory makes absolute sense. I used to think that learning the app is hard, since I am not a youngster to start with, but learning and play the app with his theory makes playing the app much easier and more fun!! Seriously folks, learning to use Larry's 12 notes system is wayyyyyy much easier than learning 32 notes system, all that non-sense of naming notes is too frustrating and dry; Larry is able to break it down in a more logical way to approach learning. When I hear Larry is coming out with this cool app, I was so excited that he is pushing his music theory out to the world. In my heart, I believe when you guys give it a shot on this app to learn the app - you will benefit a lot more knowledge and understanding with the app and music because I do =).
