Doesn't support multiple windows. So you can only view one image at a time.
  • Finally a practical image VIEWER without appsandbox problems

    By Dragonsmoke6 (Pcmac user)

As a staunch Windows user and IT specialist, I decided to broaden my horizons and force myself to use a mac as my daily driver. As a windows user I’m used to having an endless number of choices in the software I use (much of it free and open source), I’m also used to being able to download and directly install most apps, I never needed an “App Store” to make Windows functional. The problem with the App Store and apples strict requirements such as App Sandbox, made it stupidly hard to find a decent image viewer that wasn’t constrained by strict security contexts. What this means is that the majority of apps on the App Store will only open a single image rather than the whole folder when launched by doubleclicking the file in finder. this is especially true when opening files from a NAS. Amazingly enough this made the Mac user experience extremely poor. One of the other 1 star reviews complaining about the app needing access to your entire hard drive has not the slightest clue about security contexts/App Sandbox and how apps are crippled by it. The only way this app or any photo viewer for that matter can allow you to swipe left or right to view the next image in a folder is for it to run within the same security context as you the user, NOT SANDBOXED! Finally I have found an image viewer for Mac that just works! (the way one would expect) MY ONLY COMPLAINTS: -I cannot set it not save a history of recent files. I’d rather not have to manually clear the history. Recent files is not a feature I use, the standard use case is opening files directly from finder. I don’t even have a shortcut in my dock for this. -Severely limited scaling options. I’d really like the ability to keep the window size and constrain the image within, showing black to fill in the empty space without having to use fullscreen. This is particularly annoying when browsing a folder of images that range from 20MP to 1MP (yes I have that problem, photos from plant auditors range from potato quality to canon 5D). I’d also like the option to specify a maximum auto-scale factor for scaling up when the window is larger than the image. P.S. To the dude complaining about permissions, I highly doubt the developer wants to steal your crap. I doubt it’s very interesting anyways. Click the accept button and get on with life.
  • LillyView has CHANGED: Now the name should be SPAM LV… IT will TAKE OVER YOUR MACBOOK PRO RETINA

    By radiosam (Pcmac user)

It is sad when programmers CHOOSE to destroy the formerly great LillyView app. Now it’s the SPAMMY LillyView APP. We purchased the app, it has done fine UNTIL the programmers CHOSE to INTERRUPT us with an ANNOYING and REPETITIVE requirement. You know, like… if you just let us take over the Macintosh HD, we’ll stop CLOSING your LillyView files to spam you with our requirement. We have referred friends to this. We have a lot of friends. How did LillyView reward us for the purchases sent its way? They chose to make the app DEMAND that it take control of the Macintosh HD as a CONDITION. In other words, it wants access to the whole machine before it will stop putting an anying window in the place of any photo. Until they apologize in writing, until they right this wrong, we cannot recommend this app. If you do choose to purchase it, remember, we tried to help you save your MacBook Pro Retina with Flash from the spammy LillyView.
  • Fast, solid, perfect for my needs

    By GamerGremlin (Pcmac user)

I hate the Preview OS X app because it’s slow and always opens on my primary monitor, even though a different monitor has focus. I wanted something that opened images fast — like Picasa Image Viewer on Windows. I wanted something that was easy to zoom-in, zoom-out and could quickly open an image after I double-click the thumbnail in Adobe Bridge. And I wanted something that would open the image on whichever of my monitors had focus. You’d be surprised at how difficult it is find something that satisfies those minimal requirements. For my needs, this app is perfect.
