Works, but needs some serious polish...
By Terrance Shaw (Pcmac user)
There are, of course, free alternatives to this app out there, but this one seems to be a lot more simplified for those of us not wanting to mess around with a whole lot of various customization options. The interface is very spartan; there's nothing more than the ability for you to select the device to use (which as another reviewer pointed out, the text on the button is misspelled, which is a shame), the ability to select the signal strength required to classify the device as in or out of range, and the delay (though whether this is the delay between when the strength hits the threshold specified or how often it polls for the device, it's unclear).
I was able to get this working with my 4S without too much hassle (the 4S said that the device I was trying to connect to, my iMac, was an incompatible device, but it still works), and the default Beeps seem to work just fine. Haven't yet experimented with any AppleScripting, so I'll update this review when I have.

Does what it
By TalonGold (Pcmac user)
I used to use 'Proximity' which was a small app created by a stand alone developer that shared his app online, it was discontinued and there was no simple app to do the kind of the app proximity detection i was looking for.
This app is very simple but it does the job… perfectly in fact.
My only complaints are the the UI, but it does appear the developer knows his programming but it not an interface guy, no cut and paste in the script window (you have the right click to copy paste) and typo on the Bluetoo't'h Device button and it's save to set prefs functions are a bit simple…
Yet with those minor complaints, once i had it set up, it detects my phone when in range, runs the appropriate script and runs the Out of range when i leave, it's reliable, accurate and simple. All i was looking for.
For the price and the fact it works as advertised, 4 stars, fix the UI a bit and clean it up, instant 5 stars!
PS> Reguardless of the complaints, this is the ONLY software that does this proximity detection in a simple and backround efficient way, so beggars can't be choosers!

Bad
By dustin555 (Pcmac user)
Buggy would be an understatement.
Can't paste in applescript, but it doesn't really matter because it usually doesn't make anything happen anyway.

Doesn't work at all. Don't waste your money.
By jathanism (Pcmac user)
First of all there's NO documentation at all. I've tried to get this thing to fire AppleScripts and just won't work. I had to refer to reviews of this app for tip s on making it work! There's a typo in "the app" on the button that says "Bluetooh Device". Really? ONE button on your app and you have a typo?? And what the heck is the point of the slider labeled "Select"? This is the worst $2 I've ever spent. I really WANT to like this app. Please fix it and I'll revise my review.
Do yourself a favor and download the freely available open source program called Proximity, that blows this one away.
