Software Features and Description

1. FreEWI (pronounced free-wee) was designed as a free add-on for MidiBridge for EWI players, but can be used by anyone who needs to map MIDI events between apps.

2. Although primarily designed for use with MidiBridge, FreEWI can be used with other apps that have CoreMIDI virtual support.

3. Other OMAC apps that support fast-switching will also be able to fast-switch to FreEWI.

4. - Generating app must be able to write to FreEWI's virtual MIDI port.

5. FreEWI does add a small amount of latency which varies depending upon the speed of the device and how busy the device is.

6. For mapping to/from external MIDI interfaces (or CoreMIDI network), MidiBridge is required.

7. FreEWI supports fast switching to and from MidiBridge, so you can fast-switch/launch MidiBridge from FreEWI and vice-versa.

8. Runs on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch and requires iOS 5.1 or greater.

Install FreEWI app on your Windows in 4 steps below:

Download an Android emulator for PC:
Get either Bluestacks or the Nox App >> . We recommend Bluestacks because you can easily find solutions online if you run into problems while using it. Download Bluestacks PC software Here >> .

Install the emulator:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using FreEWI on PC [Windows 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "FreEWI"
The search will reveal the FreEWI app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once FreEWI is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including FreEWI.
Now enjoy FreEWI on PC.

For Windows 11, check if there's a native FreEWI Windows app here » ». If none, follow the steps below:

To get started, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto "Playstore on PC" » click "Configure_Download" button. This will auto-download and install PlayStore on your computer.

To use FreEWI,
- Login to the PlayStore we just installed
- Search for "FreEWI" » then Click "Install".
- FreEWI will now be available on your Windows start-menu.

Solution to Virtual Midi Problems

this app allows me to me to send virtual midi through my favorite apps which otherwise fail to communicate properly. While Midibridge is also an excellent solution with many more control features, I find this app to be very capable, fast, automatic, and light on CPU resources. It's a great utility that provides an excellent solution to a common problem. Along with Midibridge, highly recommended.
