★ ★ ★ iDiversDiary Overview

What is iDiversDiary? iDivers' Diary is a new app for iPhone that allows users to recreate their logbook from their Mac or PC onto their portable device. The app requires a wi-fi connection for the transfer between devices and works with Mares DiversDiary for Mac and Dive Organizer for PC. The app also allows users to take advantage of the iPhone's camera and GPS to add buddy and dive spot location information.

Software Features and Description

1. Add buddy and dive spot location to include names and all kinds of other information, then the next time you sync the iPhone with the Mac (or PC), this information will be transferred to Divers’ Diary or Dive Organizer Software.

2. You can now use this information to assign buddy and dive spot information to a specific dive, and the next time you sync the devices, your iPhone log will be updated as well.

3. You can take advantage of the iPhone’s camera to take a picture of your dive buddy and of the iPhone’s GPS to pinpoint the location of your dive site.

4. - view your dive profile for depth, temperature, gas consumption and ascent speed in a graphic profile.

5. We now introduce iDivers’ Diary, the new App for iPhone which allows you to recreate the logbook from the Mac or PC onto your portable device.

6. The only requirement is, in addition to a Mac having Mares DiversDiary (available on the Mares web site) installed, a wi-fi connection for the transfer between devices.

7. For PC users, iDiversDiary works with Dive Organizer (V2.15 and up).

  • Not happy

    By chrisD1967 (Pcmac user)

Recently the app has not been syncing with the desktop and just crashes. This is distressing as I really want my dive data with me.
  • Very complete and well thought-out

    By Hay75busa (Pcmac user)

Hopefully they will expand this to other computers in the near future, because this is a gem and right now only Mares dive computers are supported, so everybody else is missing out on a great app. Being able to use the GPS to define the dive spot may be a no-brainer in today's world, but it's super cool nonetheless. Same with taking pictures of your dive buddies using the built-in camera. The high resolution display allows for great rendering of the dive profile, even the miniature view in the dive list is awesome. The only thing missing is a direct interface to the dive computer without having to go via a Mac. And Windows compatibility, but apparently that is on the way.
  • Decent app but with Quirks

    By phosphericacid (Pcmac user)

I have been toying with the app for a while trying to sync my info from the Dive Diary app with my phone and uploading personal information to my ICON HD. For the most part it does that well, however, there are some little bugs that are setting off my OCD. For example, I can add equipment on the mobile app but there is no option to remove it, so I have some blank slots for gear I would like to remove but cant. I tried removing it on my computer and resyncing to no avail. It also took a while for my phone to finally sync correctly with the app but once it did, it seemed to do so just fine. Probably in need of an update. Not a bad app but not great either.
  • Does not work

    By Davehudsn (Pcmac user)

Dumbest app ever written. You would think it would sync with your online account, but it does not. it expects you to sync with your computer running Dive Organizer... but even that doesn't work ... just sits on the main screen saying "put your phone and computer on the same wifi network to sync". you do that while the Dive Organizer is running and it doesn't do anything.... and Dive Organizer doesn't see it either... Maybe it works with MAC but does not work with a PC. More importantly, this app should be free... i pay $350 for a dive watch and then you want to charge me $10 for an app to use with it??!! HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED- the software/apps from Mares looks and acts like something from 1998
