I manage a fleet of iPads for a the app department. The FOS Apps are by far the least user friendly and reliable Apps we have. For starters, the user interface (UI) is completely non compliant with Apple's guidance on designing the UI. I doubt the developers have even looked at it. There are tons of inconsistencies like sometimes having to highlight things and THEN select an action. When you go to "load" a trip, its tedious as once you load a single leg, you have to all the way back out of, many clicks worth, to load the next leg. It should just be able to load a trip in one shot. Why do we have to load each leg separately in the first place! Sometimes when you select a field, it places the cursor after a decimal point. That makes NO sense. EVER. When you are entering data in fields, there isn't even a button to go to the next field. So you have to manually select the next item. You have to enter crew duty separately for crew members. Thats just silly! 99.9% of the time, crew duty times are identical among members of a crew on a the app. Another example, the local radar is organized into just a huge list alphabetically of city names. It's absurd. It means to use that you have to scroll this whole list looking for a city that's near where you need to look. It could not be any less user friendly. The App is also very unreliable. Loading legs for example is often an exercise in frustration. I could go on, but i doubt anyone at Rockwell Collins is listening.
