The this app for iPad program is for converting jpeg files to readable documents, apparently. It is very expensive and does work when you understand what it is for. However there is no support for it at all in the support sections of their site to tell you how it works on the iPad and the support system is impossible. I also purchased their portable scanner and it, too works. However, I cannot get a scanned image on a memory card (not even the one they provided) to transfer to the iPad. Without that capability, this program is worthless for the iPad. There are apps out there for $3 that do what this one is supposed to do. Their products work, but only in a limited way and their support is worthless. Come back later to see if they have done the real work of making sure their products work together and have provided real support systems. Do not buy their products now. In addition, they make a point of the scanner being portable, a strong point in its favor when using an iPad. But, it must be charged on a computer! So if it runs down on the road and you have only the iPad; out-of-luck. Not good planning. It sort of negates the portable idea if using the scanner with an iPad. Drmikep
  • DO NOT BUT THIS OR IRIS SCANNERS

    By eric24824 (Pcmac user)

First of all if you buy their scanner, prepare for it to only work on a PC. It crashed each time I tied to "recognize and save". I had to force quit this app to use the Mac. They sell this software (don't let the high price fool you) and it too does not work. When you hook it up with the iPad camera connection kit, you will get the message "device needs too much power" even with a split USB cable. customer/tech support LAUGHABLE. They don't even have a phone number. You have to submit a complaint online. They may or may not answer it. I put in a request a week ago...still nothing. I'm currently trying to get my money back and buy a scanner and software from a serious company. I hope I've saved someone a huge headache.
  • Good Software

I started with OCR back in the 1970s with a company the developed it. I’ve used this app products for years. I’ve also used other people's stuff. OCR is best used for text because you can review spelling and grammar with a good word processor. If the scan was 99% accurate at the character level then you can expect 1 bad character like and 8 mistaken for a B every 100 characters. An 8 in a word is easy for a spell checker, but if you are trying to scan the phone book a misplaced number like a 6 for an 8 is going to require very carefully proof reading the document. The bottom line is that this product is pretty good. How good depends on the quality of the source and the type of material.
  • Buggy and unworkable

    By Baumann_9 (Pcmac user)

I have a lot of familiarity with OCR and really expected something accurate and reliable from this app. Unfortunately this app did not help me, as every time I export a PDF into this app, it imports it again and again, until all memory is filled on my iPad and the app crashes. It has balked at every PDF I throw at it. The company provides no support that I can find and their support part of their website does not even include the iPad version. What a disappointing and expensive experience. Caveat emptor.
