  • Same info always - takes ages to release new issues

    By orangesider (Pcmac user)

Not sure if this is part of Future, but you can see they don't spend much time on it, or rather they out their energy on the wrong subjects to release their specials. For the past 3 years you get the same... Learn logic, learn live, the only thing they change is the number of the year. Nothing about other techniques, or daws. In addition, they take ages to release a new issue of the same, again, when it is not logic it's live. I haven't seen an issue on cubase in years. Boring magazine and expensive for what you get.
  • On the iPad: nice! On the iPhone: uh...

    By Mujah (Pcmac user)

The iPad version of this app works great! However, on the iPhone, this app looks like it wasn't even designed with pre-Retina Display iPhones. The rendering quality is so poor that I can't read a thing. Aside from that, there also seems to be an issue with registering an account right now (tells me to check my Internet connection as I'm downloading my free issue without a problem), which makes it difficult to invest in any more issues because I don't know if they'll be restorable purchases. All in all, the app has potential, but has to address some fundamental problems first. The magazine, however, is Grade-A information. If you have an iPad, get it for the "free" issue (you pay for the app, right?); get more after they fix the app.
  • Needs More Focus

    By jareichow (Pcmac user)

The app works fine, no issues. This review is for the magazine itself. The subject matter is usually well chosen to my liking attracting me to purchase the articles. It seems like I am usually disappointed with the article depth. My understanding is that this mag should be for a more in depth look at techniques. If all the articles are going to consist of 101 content depth such as putting new strings on your guitar and tuning your instrument between takes this mag should be renamed to the app 101 and priced accordingly. I will probably continue to purchase select issues as I can usually get one useful tip out of it.
  • Seriously needs update

    By Baskervilles (Pcmac user)

When the app works well and the magazine looks super on the iPad. Right now, the magazines are black and don't show up. I downloaded the app to get the Native Instruments issue of Music Tech. There isn't much N.I. literature out there. It seemed like 70% of the magazine was simply describing the product, which is fairly useless for people who already own it. I didn't want a brochure, I wanted tips, suggestions and tutorials. I would imagine that most people buying the mag own a version of the product already and don't need sub-beginner explanations of what it does. The Masterclass magazines from Music Tech are much better. Although there are millions of ads, there is more content and useful suggestions.
