Software Features and Description

1. After your run is completed Tap-A-Lap then provides your individual lap-by-lap mileage, average pace, and lap pace info for detailed results that will help you find the weak spots in your running technique and pace.

2. By tapping to increment your laps it makes it so you don't have to remember what lap you are on and possibly forget or skip a lap! It is especially valuable indoors when you cannot use GPS but still want all of your statistical exercise information.

3. * Just leave mileage blank to exercise by time only and Tap-A-Lap will keep track of how far you have gone.

4. * Pause feature that blacks out the screen and pauses all your statistical information until you resume your exercise.

5. * Voice audio cues for fast and slow intervals during your exercise (set your intervals by tapping on the clock on the home screen).

6. * 90 or 180 beats per minute pacer (for one or both feet) to help you achieve your most efficient running pace.

7. * Fullscreen button! While the screen shows a button you can tap, for frequent runners it is nice to be able to just slap the screen wherever and have it increment your lap.

8. The app will calculate to the closest lap the number of laps you will need to run to achieve your desired mileage.

9. * You can also email your results and a screenshot of your final statistics to yourself and your trainer.

10. * Email the results of each run to yourself and your trainer and input your results manually into Runkeeper.

11. * The ability to put in exact mileage and track size, down to hundredths of a mile.

  • Great with Runkeeper but manual email

    By JHDalton (Pcmac user)

I love this app. Unlike other users I keep my phone unlocked throughout my runs. Perhaps that is why I've never seen dropped laps. It's worked flawlessly at tracking and syncing with Runkeeper for months - 2 of the most important parts for me. The only complaints (and thus 4 stars. Are that the end data doesn't give time of each lap in seconds so I put the data into Excel to further analyze it, and since the built in email function does nothing I have to click on the data, select copy all, and paste into a new email for myself manually after every run. All in all well worth the buck and does most of what I want all by itself.
  • Has potential

    By myklia (Pcmac user)

Love the idea, but you batter make sure and double sure you are signed into RunKeeper if you want to save your runs. Today I had a mishap where I trying to tap a lap and maybe my hand wasn't steady and it ended my run even though I had 7 more laps to go. I started a nee run for the last 7 right away, then realize i didn't post my previous laps to RunKeeper. That info is lost forever. I just wish Tap-a-Lap would save run information within the app. I have three runs now where the info is lost forever.
  • Useful, but not all functions work

    By oddprofessor (Pcmac user)

The lap-tap is handy, and it works well (although I found that I had to put it into double-tap because an accidental touch would register a lap when I didn’t want it to), but as others have reported, the email option (to mail your lap-by-lap data) doesn’t work at all, and the posting to Runkeeper is haphazard. When a post to Runkeeper fails, the app tells you apologetically and then crashes, and you’ve lost that data. So, before you try to post, take a picture of your dashboard, and copy-paste your lap data into a Note on your iPhone, and THEN try to post to Runkeeper. Once these issues get ironed out (especially the email one), this will be a very good app.
  • Good Lap Timer but an issue

    By MortenDesign (Pcmac user)

If you are looking for just a lap timer this app is great. My issue was with trying to use it while also using a Couch to 10K running program app that gives you cues as to when to run and when to walk. The lap timer app would not allow the cues to come through from the other app so its useless for me at this point. I also was not impressed when I tried to visit the website of the app creator to email them about the issue and I ended up on a generic "welcome to your new website server" page.
