Software Features and Description

1. Conductor's Point of View - automatically flips the beat pattern for conductors to learn and practice the patterns.

2. Performer’s Point of View - the conductor’s beat pattern as seen from the ensemble musicians.

3. Make the pattern and background disappear completely! Make the baton translucent so moving over the music is less distracting and more musically guiding.

4. This metronome is an invaluable learning tool for conductors when using the Conductor's Point of View, and performers when using the Performer's Point of View.

5. Checking the ‘Tempo Reduces Pattern’ box automatically adjusts the pattern when the tempo reaches a level that requires it.

6. Always know where you are INSIDE the beat with the traditional musical beat patterns developed over ages of musical performance practice, not an arbitrary circle for all meters and styles.

7. Adjust the background color and decrease the transparency to isolate the pattern from other applications.

8. When practicing with this metronome, the animated beat patterns will reinforce the peripheral vision used when following a conductor.

9. Customize the colors and transparencies of the baton, pattern, and background.

10. Checking the ‘Reduced Pattern’ box forces the reduced pattern at ALL tempos.

11. At faster tempos, a legato 3 pattern turns into a one pattern while still clicking the three beats.

Top Pcmac Reviews

  • Here's the point.

By Patrick Q. Kelly (Pcmac user)

This app conducts. It animates. It is a metronome that conducts as well as clicks. I don't understand the review that it only shows you the conducting pattern. Maybe they didn't understand how to start it. - (Press the start button.) Max Rudolf's patterns aren't completely correct? I don't want to appear defensive, but I'm just very confused and curious to know which patterns mandyg233 thinks are wrong? I am also curious as to whether mandyg233 ever conducted live musicians. This app is extremely flexible to accomidate what a musician might need. Be it a tiny ball to the side, or a large ball moving across the entire screen. By adjusting the transparency of the pattern, ball, and background, you can customize this app to fit your specific needs.
  • Best METRONOME app overall

    By NineByNine (Pcmac user)

This is the best of all of the metronome apps out there because the conducting patterns contain so much information - you can tell which beat of the measure you are on with just a glance at the motion of the "baton" out of the corner of your eye, and you can even tell where you are WITHIN each beat. Except for the staccato and reduced patterns, the half beats are clearly indicated by the motion of the baton, and with practice you can recognize where other fractional beats are in the pattern. The conducting patterns are the result of CENTURIES of experience on how to transmit timing information to musicians. The standard visual cues for metronome apps - flashing lights, counting numbers, bouncing balls, or virtual pendulums - contain far less information than the movement of the baton. If you already know how to play under the direction of a conductor, this is the metronome app to have. If you haven't learned with a conductor, give this app a chance, practice with it, and you will understand. Check out the iOS versions, too.
  • Perfect App

    By jrhfilms (Pcmac user)

All I can say… I love this app. It is totally cool.
  • great for mimicking a conductor. Not for everyone.

    By ebtihal (Pcmac user)

CON: No tap tempo. No volume control. No way to make entire conductor baton interface disappear (I don’t need it). No way to make all click sounds the same (when practicing scales, etc., I don’t want a different sound on the downbeat) other than changing meter to 1/4. It was my mistake for assuming these would be included in such a feature-rich app, but I wish I could have tested this out before purchasing. PRO If you don’t need those things and just want to follow a customizable conductor’s baton, it’s great.
