Top Pcmac Reviews

  • Well Designed, Surprisingly Easy to Use

    By Flouris (Pcmac user)

Previous to purchasing itjBPM, I downloaded another BPM app that was a port of a Windows application. That free app had all the problems associated with Windows to Mac ports - slow, bad user interface, frequent crashes, etc. It did a decent enough job, but got the BPMs wrong on enough songs that it wasn’t useful. I downloaded this app because of the reviews, and am very happy. The user interface is excellent. It is simple, intuitive and easy to understand (once you read the documentation.) The programmer obviously spent a lot of time making the interface as simple and logical as it is. It is very Mac-like: everything works as you would expect, and there is no strange behavior when the user does something unexpected. As a previous reviewer said, you can calculate the BPMs on many songs very quickly. Once you get used to the UI, you can easily calculate the BPMs of several hundred songs an hour.
  • Fantastic App

The individuals who have given this app low ratings are looking for an app that automatically finds the BPM for you. This app does not do that and it is one of it's best features. You can very easily (through this beautiful minimalist app): 1. Use hotkeys of your choice to skip to the right portion of the song you want to listen to, change the volume of the song, and more (without going into iTunes) 2. Tap out the beat of the song using a hotkey of your choice. 2. Send the BPM you just found straight into your iTunes. Apps that automatically find BPM for you I have found to be very unreliable. While you must be very precise to find the BPM with this app, I prefer to know how the BPM is being found. I've suggested this to numerous friends, and they're hoping for a version in the future to be used on Windows as well. One of the best $3 I've ever spent. As a fitness professional, I'll be using this all the time. Thanks Jared!
  • A great tool for measuring BPM by tapping along with the beat!

By Tim 'DJ TJ' Johnson (Pcmac user)

This is a really nice tool which helps you measure the BPM of your music one song at a time by repeatedly pressing a key to the beat of the music. this app has some really nice keyboard controls. After you measure the BPM, you can press a key to enter the BPM value it into iTunes. In addition, you can rate the song with the press of a key and you can change to the next song by pressing another key. It has some other keyboard features such as changing the volume and jumping forward and back within a song. You can even customize the keyboard controls if you like. I'm glad this software doesn't automatically measure BPM. It is very difficult for software to accurately measure BPM automatically. I need the BPM to be accurate for all of my songs and so I prefer to measure it manually with a tool such as this app, which is my new favorite BPM tool! Thanks Jaraed!
  • ltjBPM doesn't automate BPM counts for iTunes - this is a GOOD thing!

    By FaceFur (Pcmac user)

This is a great tool that provides a quick and transparent process for manually measuring and posting BPM counts for iTunes tracks. this app only counts the beats that you tap out in time with the track yourself. This is one of its best features. Result: beats per minute for only the beats that you want counted, not an automated best guess. This is great for non-4/4 time signatures (like waltz, etc), and prevents half- and double-time values from creeping in unless you want them. This tool lets me quickly and transparently audit BPMs for long lists of tracks in my iTunes playlists with just a few keystrokes, and without switching back and forth between windows like working directly within iTunes requires. I have used this program since 2005, and I'm pleased to see it in the App store so I can support its creator by conveniently paying for it!
