What is touchAble?

touchAble is a controller app for Ableton Live that offers a vast array of new and improved features and finally connects via a simple USB cable. It includes six different modules that - combined - give you full control over Lives Session-View. Its modular interface allows you to split the screen to show two modules at the same time - or to maximize the surface area of a single module.

Software Features and Description

Download an Android emulator for PC:

Install the emulator:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using touchAble on PC [Windows 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "touchAble"
The search will reveal the touchAble app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once touchAble is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including touchAble.
Now enjoy touchAble on PC.

touchAble functions

- Launch Clips and Scenes, Solo and arm tracks, or open up the loop controls to quickly loop a running Clip.

- An overview provides quick access to any position in the set. Create or delete Tracks, Scenes, Clips and even stop buttons.

- Edit MIDI Clips with the MIDI Editor. Drum Mode makes it easy to lay down a drum loop. Chord Mode allows for precise note placements and lengths - in any scale you want.

- Adjust Volumes, Sends, Pans and the Crossfader. Accurate dB readings and level meters. Snap and Timed mode with 4 different envelopes.

- Access Live Devices, VSTs or AUs. Supports Devices in Racks. Intelligent Controls adapt to the type of control used in Live. Snap and Combo mode.

- Traditional Keyboard Drum Pads. Isomorphic Keyboard. All of them include Scales selector, Note repeat, Aftertouch and Positional velocity.

- Assign and control up to 12 parameters at once. Gravity Parameters on each of the dots. Snapshots of positions with morph. Gesture recorder.

- Edit your own interfaces using XY Pads, Faders, Rotaries, Buttons, Labels and Containers. Assign any Live parameter or MIDI CC/Note. Use as many pages as you like - and save and restore your templates. Combine your own template with touchAbles other modules.

- The Browser lets you access Live's Library. Drag and Drop Devices on a track - or drop Samples on one of the DrumPads.

- Compatible with Live 9 & 10 (latest version) - Lite, Intro, Standard and Suite - and runs on all generations of iPad.

- The Server Software requires OSX 10.7 and above or Windows 7 and above.

✔ Pros:

- The app is great for live performances and controlling Ableton Live with an iPad.

- The app has been solid in updating and has many features.

☹ Cons:

- The developer dropped support for the app for a long time, which was a red flag for some users.

- Some users have reported issues with the app not working on newer devices and being asked to purchase a new version for $30.

Update! Apps works again and it’s full of features. I’m hesitant to give the full 5 stars with love 10 on the horizon. Dropping out of supporting the app for so long was a big red flag from this developer but things are looking good now. I’ll check back and happily give the full 5 in a few months. Fingers crossed! Bottom line: this app does not work with Mac OS X Yosemite. You know: the current version of Mac OS, the one installed on all new Mac computers. This app was the bomb back when I could use it. It truly is the best app for controlling Ableton Live via the iPad. I’ve invested over $50 for the app itself and the templates. That’s $50 for something I cannot use. Yay. No response from the developers, no one in the forums knows anything. Guess I’m moving over to Lemur or Conductr. It’s a shame, really.
TOUCHABLE “PRO” NOT AN UPDATE???

MAN FORGET THIS COMPANY!?! YOU GUYS ARE CONSISTENT WHEN IT COMES TO ALL OF YOUR PHENOMENALLY GREAT APPS!?! YOU DISAPPEAR AND CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS A JOKE OR NON EXISTENT. You would think that maybe working together with your users would be great potential for growth and show that you take their opinions into consideration.. I am afraid to purchase anything else from these developers, when I’ve received one reply back after years of emails and on the forum... The new “PRO” app looks like an identical prettier rewrite of this one.. I’m considering jail breaking again!?! Honestly, I wanted an iPad because of this app. & even over Liine Lemur. Eventually after finding out no support from anyone for OVER a year, not even other users where actively involved. So, I converted to lemur. At least their community has been extremely helpful...
Such a Must Have for Me

I have been using this app for years now and really couldn’t do without it in my live performance. I’d say give them a break for the short drop out in support. I really couldn’t do without it. In my experience they have been solid in updating and it is a great product for using the iPad to control ableton live.
No longer works even though I bought it

I used this app a few years ago. It worked great. Now that I have returned to producing music on a new iPad Pro, it refuses to load. I’m expected to go buy a new version for $30. This would be like buying a car only to have it not work after a new model is released. Forget it. I’ll go and buy something from the competition. Maybe they won’t rip me off. Forget this company.
