Software Features and Description

1. Please note that MEDL Mobile makes no claims that this is a legal hearing aid device.

2. Andy’s father is hard of hearing and he thought that it would be a great idea to turn an iPhone into a hearing aid to help out his dad.

3. The idea was submitted by Andy Schupbach, originally an auto worker in Detroit but now an airline mechanic in Chicago.

4. The app simply picks up the noises audible to the iPhone’s very sensitive microphone and relays them at a higher volume through the headphones.

5. We also don’t advocate listening in on conversations that you shouldn’t be hearing.

6. By using it, you’ll be able to pick up on things you might normally miss.

7. Use it in the back of the classroom to hear the teacher, and to pick up on the gossip going down a few aisles away.

8. If you have hearing problems, we suggest you see a specially trained physician.

9. We are proud to call iCanHearU a Shiny MEDL Object.

10. iCanHearU was created in MEDL Mobile’s App Incubator.

11. Use it out in nature to pick up sounds that most of us never even perceive.

  • I like it

    By Tomcat333 (Pcmac user)

I like this app, and the price is right too 😊 Haven't tried it with a Bluetooth headset yet though. Could be better maybe with an adjustable noise filter. Also the ability to toggle between using the iPod's built-in mic, or the earbuds' mic would be nice. Am not complaining though..this is a useful app as it stands.
  • Negative.

    By Kolorsblisick (Pcmac user)

Nope. Doesn't do the trick. Can't hear a thing. My own breathing was hardily even audible. I had to blow directly into my mic to know it was on. Lol Fail. This App has failed the world of ease droppers or as I prefer to call it, "audio-dynamic researchers". Inquisitive minds need 2 know what the world around us has to say. Lol This App has no respect for the cause. -_- Boooo!
  • One ear?

    By copperlemur (Pcmac user)

I thought it played through both before. Yeah, the iPhone is recording mono but just make the app play it through both. I wish it could filter out background noise.
  • Works as advertised

    By TheChameleon (Pcmac user)

Both earbuds work for me and it does a good job of amplifying nearby conversations or nature sounds.
