★ ★ ★ uHear Overview

What is uHear?

uHear is a hearing screening tool that allows users to test their hearing to determine if it is within normal range or if they have a potential hearing loss. The app offers three easy tests that can be completed in less than 5 minutes. The tests include Hearing Sensitivity, Speech in Noise, and a Questionnaire. The app is not intended to replace rigorous testing offered by a hearing healthcare professional.

Software Features and Description

1. uHearTM is a screening tool which allows you to test your hearing to determine if it is within normal range, or if you have a potential hearing loss.

2. This test is not intended to replace the rigorous testing that is offered by a hearing healthcare professional.

3. Hearing Sensitivity is allows you to test your hearing to determine if it is within the normal range.

4. If you do suspect a hearing loss, please consider seeking the advice of a qualified professional.

5. Do you or someone you know think you have a hearing loss? Often times it is difficult to tell because hearing loss usually occurs gradually such that the person is not aware of it.

6. Questionnaire is a series of questions regarding your hearing ability in common listening situations.

7. Speech in Noise is a measurement of your ability to understand speech in noisy environments.

8. Please note architectural changes were required during the migration of uHear to the new operating system.

9. These changes have rendered it impossible to retain test results that were saved by uHear 1.0 and display them in uHear 2.0. uHear is intended to be a quick hearing screening tool to help people determine if they should seek further treatment from a qualified hearing healthcare professional.

10. Results obtained using the tone test are not a substitute for a valid hearing test under the supervision of a trained professional in a controlled environment.

  • One of the most useful and oldest health app in ios

    By Acuramdx1 (Pcmac user)

I first dowloaded this App 9 years ago when it was one of the pioneer apps for using smartphone for healthcare use-case applications. It has improved over the past 9 years... to accommodate newer hardware and more depth. Last week, I needed to test my 83 yr old Mom’s for hearing loss.. Also compared it with a clinical test in MiracleEar franchise.. apple-apple match and very professional result! kudos to Unitron and Dr. Don Hayes and Zeitguys for a great and easy to use interface!!! I was able to use the test, upload to a great web based hearing aid e-commerce site and get the hearing aid delivered all in just 48 hrs..every other (called 4) Costco/Miracle ear shop could not give even an appointment for next 2 months !!!
  • Good for tracking hearing loss but not letting me save results lately

    By Xak5 (Pcmac user)

I've been using this app for a long time now. I have meniers disease so my hearing fluctuates a lot. I really like this app because it allows me to keep a record of my hearing that I can share with my audiologist at check ups. I'm not sure why but lately it won't let me save or see my results after the test. I hope this gets resolved soon because I really like this app and would like to continue using it.
  • Extremely well designed but . . .

By Dave in Canton (Pcmac user)

This app is extremely well designed and very informative. The test results are laid out so that they are completely understandable. The problem that I had was that I could not reproduce the same test results twice. In one test it indicated that I had a hearing loss in the right ear and in another test it said that my right ear was normal. This is despite the fact that I was using the same headset and environmental conditions etc.
  • Matched my ENT’s test results

    By Jorist2 (Pcmac user)

Because of all of the ear problems I had as a child, I knew I would have issues with my hearing as I got older. I recently went to my ENT for a full hearing test. About a month later, I then used this app to test my hearing. The results were almost identical. I was very impressed with the results of my test.
