QR Code Verification Scanner for Pc

1. The “QR Code Verification Scanner” mobile app developed and launched by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department [with assistant from the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO)] of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (the Government) is used mainly in Hong Kong for scanning the QR code on the COVID-19 vaccination / testing record issued by the Government with an aim to verify the information displayed to ensure data integrity.

2. After receiving the free COVID-19 testing services provided by the Government, citizens can check and download the electronic testing records through the COVID-19 Electronic Vaccination and Testing Record System ( ) or via “iAM Smart”.

3. In addition, if citizens receive testing services at local COVID-19 nucleic acid testing institutions recognised by the Government, they can also apply to the institution for uploading their test results to the Department of Health for the subsequent checks and downloads of the electronic testing records through the system.

4. Citizen can scan the information embedded in the QR code on the electronic record with this mobile app, in order to verify the testing/vaccination record and ensure data authenticity.

5. Moreover, a QR code for verification of vaccination record is printed on both the paper vaccination record for citizen after vaccination and electronic vaccination record downloadable via “iAM Smart”.

6. A QR code is printed on the electronic testing record for verifying the authenticity of the testing record.

7. If the scanning succeeds, the mobile app will display the information embedded in the QR code for verifying the authenticity of the record.

8. If the scanning fails, the mobile app will display the message “QR Code information incorrect.

9. Unable to authenticate”, indicating the QR code might have been tampered with.
