Software Features and Description

1. MultiTrack can be used for a host of purposes such as a tool for recording and layering audio for export to other DAW's , creating that perfect loop for other third party applications or recording vocal sessions to accompany you in AUM.

2. It features the ability to record up to 8 mono or stereo audio tracks per instance, with the ability to run multiple instances under the control of your host DAW.

3. MultiTrack has the ability to run standalone using it's own transport or synced to a host which allows synchronous control of multiple instances.

4. Also included is the ability to perform operations such as splitting, normalising, reversing and time stretching of audio clips all with a multi-level undo built right in.

5. Although AUM allows some great routing options for third party effects, MultiTrack also includes an extremely CPU friendly beat synced delay and reverb which can be used where recording pre-effected instruments is not an option.

6. This is an AUv3 compatible Multi-Track Recorder plugin specifically designed for AUM and other DAW's that don't support audio recording capabilities.

7. The audio pool also features the ability to copy and paste audio directly from the iOS pasteboard as well as preview and manage your data.

8. MultiTrack supports various recording modes including the ability to set punch in and out points for sample accurate recordings.

9. Press the Host Sync in order to the advantage of the hosts transport controls or enable the remote button to enable host recording controls (great for NS2).

10. MultiTrack allows per clip volume level as well as being able to control start and end cropping and fade in/out on a clip by clip basis.

11. Quickly and easily move audio files using drag and drop to the time line or between the audio pool and the Files App.

  • So Close to Perfect

This is a great quality app that fills a huge hole in iOS music making for any workflow that doesn’t include one of the full fledged DAWs. Well, mostly fills it. Just one small change and it’s perfect as far as I’m concerned. All this app needs is a way to arm recording from within the app when the “Remote” function is enabled. Right now, disengaging Host Sync and engaging Remote lets you set a loop range for playback, but forces you to start recording only with the Host’s record button. AUM won’t let you press record unless you have something armed to record ... which you don’t need if you’re using this app. And, AudioBus doesn’t even have a record button, so it’s useless for that there. I’m hopeful this one last, simple, piece will be added, but so far, though the developer has been quick to add other features this one has been met with silence. I hate to take off a star for just that, but it really does remove a significant amount of the usefulness IMO. Hoping I can pop that fifth star on there soon. Because this is an IOS essential app.
  • Excellent!

Rock solid and feature rich! One of the most responsive and meticulous developers. When/if MIDI song position becomes ubiquitous in other apps (AUM) we will have a flexible modular DAW system we can custom fit to our workflow.

I really like what you’ve got going on here, but unfortunately ApeMatrix doesn’t do well with it (which is a shame since it literally might be the best “weird DAW/mixer” app to use in conjunction with your AUv3, trust me I’ve tried it almost all). The transport with ApeMatrix might well be the only issue I have with the app, it is just weird and kinda flaky. Unfortunately, it seems like the AUv3 does not sync well with it: my recordings always have some “severe” latency added to them. It ultimately results in everything being out of sync. I will try this later in my almost first, but really second favorite tool, NanoStudio 2 and will get back at you but I really hope the ApeMatrix issues can be fixed as it is really why I bought this. As a side note, a “loop” function would be very appreciated, as otherwise we have to rely on the host having such controls and ultimately the purpose of this AUv3 is precisely getting away from needed a traditional DAW yet being able to “bring the DAW in” whenever needed. A loop section would be HUGE, please add it! And hopefully fix the transport issues with ApeMatrix if possible :). A last suggestion would be to look into “Piano Roll” the midi AUv3. Piano Roll AUv3 instances can talk to each other (you can see all your “midi tracks” in ANY AUv3 instance of Piano Roll if you so wish). It would be great to try to copy this style and allow us to load a single the app instance “on several slots”. At the moment, I haven’t found a way to record several tracks of these at the same time unless I spread them I to multiple instances. This is ok, but it’s probably bad for memory which is a huge thing for iOS music production. Having a single “multi-instanced” instance would be amazing as we could control ourselves “how many” of the tracks we want to record in parallel. In ApeMatrix the routing for this would be trivial and it would work as a charm, allowing us to reroute specific Instruments into specific the app tracks. The coolest thing would be not having to rely on loading separate “unique” instances to record in parallel. That being said, I’ve also had issues with ApeMatrix while trying to record multiple tracks at the same time (in different instances of the the app). Often times, after activating the record function on both or multiple instances of the app and then hitting play on ApeMatrix (with host tempo sync enabled obviously), some of my recording won’t actually start. Sometimes it all works, sometimes none of them record.. etc. Seems like there’s quite a few glitches here and there still, but I believe this is a new AUv3 and I see a lot of potential so I’m sure it’ll keep getting better as the bug reports and requests start emerging. I hope my feedback was valuable, that you can bring in some of my recommendations to your product, and look forward to re-reviewing this as a 5 star app (i kinda wish I could do so now, but I’ve literally been unable to use it “professionally” given the limitations that I just described (particularly the lack of precise syncing with ApeMatrix’s host controls, which to be fair are also partially ApeMatrix’s fault for having such weird transport functionality (looping even while not playing)). UPDATE 1: Dev was quick to reply and very nice about my feedback. I would certainly recommend trying ApeMatrix out as it really is a game changer.. you might thank me for ditching AUM afterwards. I use AUM and Audiobus literally only because for some weird reason ApeMatrix doesn’t natively support Bluetooth audio (although it does when routed through either of the previous two apps). It’s fair to say I literally only use the other two programs to launch ApeMatrix, and maybe it’s just me, but I really do think it’s by faaaar the superior option of all of them once you understand it well. The only issue it has, as all of these other “mixer/console” apps is that well... it doesn’t do great with recordings either. As a second note: I realized that there IS an actual loop button (it didn’t work when I tried it with Host Sync on, inside of ApeMatrix. It does without the host sync though), sorry about that! Hopefully you’ll be able to fix the host sync issue with apeMatrix though as there is also some latency there that can not be properly compensated for as it never is really the same (sometimes the recording is quite a few milliseconds off of sync). Thank you for your quick response and feedback, very well deserving the 5 stars. I hope you will be able to fix the issues soon, and I will continue to test your product on the meanwhile, it is still a very tempting AUv3 that I hope will eventually allow me to ditch my traditional DAWs (except for NanoStudio 2 which is a bomb too... although it’s “not really a DAW”...? You know, whatever).
