A great assist for the hard of hearing
By Hearing Champ (Pcmac user)
I lost 50% of my hearing last year due to a reaction from strong medicine. I was at a loss as to how to communicate with my wife. A friend recommended this app. I now have one this app loaded on an old iPad we weren’t using, and have placed it permanently on a table between where she sits and me. I connected an external directional microphone (the Rode “VideoMicMe”) and directed it to my wife. I leave this app on the entire time we are in the family room. (You will need to have your iPad connected to external power). The only problem we have is occasional confusion between my wife talking and the TV. She just mutes the TV to talk. I also find the iPhone version indispensable for doctor visits and other one on one conversations. Maybe this will work for you, too!

Great app but would really like to use in family sharing!
By 60 + marriage (Pcmac user)
My husband has been severely hearing impaired for more than 40 years. Usually his hearing aides provide all the help he needs. However they stopped functioning and it was very upsetting to him. We could not get him in to the doctor nor to a hearing aid shop for replacement or repair in a timely fashion. I thought there had to be something so went to the App Store and after trying several apps settled on this app. We are very pleased and when our audiologist saw it she was very impressed and wrote down all the information. The speed and accuracy of the transcription are two of the things that particularly impressed her. I would give it five stars but if I want to talk to my husband when he does not have his phone I have to have it on my phone also. So when the trial is over I will be having to drop my subscription. Nevertheless it is a great app!

99% there! Missing just one thing...
By GentleGiardiasis (Pcmac user)
As a medical professional looking for dictation software, this does a very good job! It understands a vast majority of medical jargon and I think this will really help me with charting. The only thing that would make this app absolutely perfect is if there was a way you could utilize its dictation capabilities within other apps. For example, is there any way to make a floating mic icon that you could tap that would allow you to dictate into any text box? Or maybe make an installable keyboard with dictation capabilities? Otherwise the only workaround for that at the moment is you can easily copy and paste the dictated text into your software of choice. It works, but it just adds an unnecessary step and I would love it if we could dictate into other apps directly.

Very helpful tool to communicate.
By alkedrie (Pcmac user)
My father is 93 years old and recently moved in with us as he needed hospice care. He is almost totally deaf and hearing aids do not help.
He still wants to communicate but the only way to do this is writing on yellow pads. We had yellow pads and pens everywhere and of course it takes time to write. And hand writing is not consistent.
This application has really helped my wife and I communicate with my dad using our phones which are always near by.
Now we simply speak into the app and it captures our comments in nice big text. It is also easy to adjust text sizes and since he is also blind in one eye and poor vision in his good eye this is a big help. Another feature I love is the shake to erase the text. It reminds me of my Etch a Sketch - it is so fast and easy to converse.
The five dollars per phone is worth its weight in gold. Now we can easily communicate with dad and it has improved his quality of life, and ours, lol. It beats yelling! At 93, you want to see them end well and this is helping us overcome a major disability - hearing loss!
I recommend this to anyone who needs to communicate with the hearing impaired.
